A STREET party attracted crowds to Dawlish today after community groups set up their stalls on The Strand.
Shops and businesses joined in to create a real party atmosphere.
There was free face painting and family entertainment including brass bands and a Punch and Judy show.
There was also a chance to join Dawlish’s Guinness World Record attempt for the most people popping party poppers on the Lawn.
Tomorrow, the Lawn will host the annual Royal British Legion Party in the Park from 11am…

Thanks, I wasn't actively looking for something to do, but would have gone if I'd dug deeper. I guess that's the difference between push and pull notifications.
Not only was it in the Events, but the following was posted by Michael Clayson on Wednesday in the Bandstand Forum post.
It was also advertised in the Town Crier. http://www.dawlish.gov.uk/edit/uploads/1275.pdf
We have a busy weekend coming up on the Lawn, with events appealing (hopefully and weather permitting) to all ages
Saturday is very much a traditional family day with children's entertainments such as Punch and Judy; and a street market. They fit very well to the traditional Victorian bandstand model.
Sunday is a totally different kettle of fish with Party in the Park. A day of musical entertainment that some may hate, but the growing number if people that like their bands rocky or country will tell you is one of the best days of the year. Those bands struggle with the limitations of the current structure, and would find a traditional wrought iron Victorian bandstand impossible.
i think it would be great for us all to look at both events, understand their varied charms and then take forward our observations into the forthcoming consultation.
Thanks for such a fastidious post Carer, and so early in the morning too. Did you wet the bed?
We made a 260 round trip today to visit, eat ice-cream from our favourite shop and spend time just chilling.
Thanks to everyone in Dawlish and the Warren for making it another great visit.
Party in the Park was fantastic yet again. Well done to the RBL for organising such a great event. Token Joker were my highlight!
Yea, you could see the work that went into the staging. Whatever eventually replaces the bandstand could (hopefully/I'm sure) make these events a 'must play' venue for artists etc.
I'm sure that all the people who volunteer their time and their services freely for this event, will be so pleased to read your sarcastic remark regarding the stage.
Have you done anything to assist the day and help out to make the day better for everyone?
That was not a sarcastic comment Carer, I thought the staging was excellent.
Do you really need to hijack posts with your petty and ill founded animosity?
Hijack posts?
Lets see now, who started going on about party in the park in this Saturday Street Party Thread?
Not me.
End Of.
Carer, to be fair, it was your post that first mentioned Party In The Park on this thread at 05:09 yesterday.
