@webmaster - i find dawlish.com is a bonus for dawlish when threads are not hijacked by certain user's/ex user's. i for one enjoy contributing to this site and fully welcome the increased policing, as to what certain user's have done in the past, that is the past. keep up the good work.

Politicians and promises, the only thing you can be sure will definetly happen will be:- Higher salaries, year on year, for the m.p's no matter how badly the economy is doing. Increases in v.a.t/taxes for the working/middle classes. Minimum wage going up by pennies relative to cost of living. Degredation of what is left of our armed forces/emergency services/N.H.S. Continued erosion of ...
@Lynne - i had politely advised the couple that cycling was not allowed on the sea wall. the bloke replied 'i didn't know that' and just cycled passed. Actually there is another cyclist on another picture who barged his way passed a large group of people as well. It would seem the 'No cycle' signs have been slowly disappearing form the barriers on the sea wall. You can have as many regulations ...
A couple of threads from years gone by re cctv in Dawlish. https://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/13239 https://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/12814
Plenty of houses along that road already and one that is right on the edge above Coryton Cove, a load of hype about nothing. If I'm reading it right the application was submitted Dec 2014 with a target date of 16/05/2017. Only one objection to this planning request by one of their neighbours. If you take into account some of the planning applications, that were not inkeeping with their ...
As I have said on other threads - I would vote for every election that comes my way if the voting list had a box for NONE OF THE ABOVE.
Why take on the role if they don't have the heart to support the local people's wishes? Sad to see a beautiful town being run into the ground due to a council who seems bent over backwards to do all the things the Dawlish people do not want.
The attached article highlights the reason why crime is so rife. A judicial system that lacks any backbone to dish out relevant sentences. The best part being he may well be residing back in Dawlish, again, really. I certainly would not want him living near me. Additional info:- ...
Not exactly breaking news considering the theft took place on the 10th March. I did not realise that Dawlish News is a monthy rag.

An interesting observation by the photographer - "He also spotted the very rare sight of the DRS class66s no's 66424 and 68301 double headed. The yearly flask train from Crewe Coal Yard to Keyham Dock Yard (DEVONPORT)." Why would waste nuclear material be sent to a Naval Dockyard? and significantly only once a year. The schedules for all other shipments is very regular and all go from the ...
Needs destroying, not selling.
Thanks Lynne.
On Friday morning I was driving down The Strand, in my car, towards the junction with the A379. I witnessed an adult male riding his cycle off the A379 and ride up the centre of The Strand towards me. The cyclist bumped up the curb and on to the pavement by Boots and only because I was in his way. It's the same issue for all the anti social behaviour that affects residents of Dawlish. It's not ...
Excellant, at last we are making forward progress.
It wouldn't go amiss to spend a bit of that on making sure the sewage got where it needs to go without leaking out everytime there's a bit of rain!
@Carer - thanks, but no thanks. i'm quite happy posting on here.
@ZIGGY - thanks.
@Merlin228 - thanks, i must admit it was quite a pea souper.
@Pete - appreciated.
Before the twentieth century, members of parliament were unpaid as it was assumed they would have another income. The first regular salary was £400 per year, introduced by the Parliament Act of 1911. Some subsequent salary levels were £1000 in 1946, £3250 in 1964, £11,750 in 1980, and £26,701 in 1990. The increases in MPs' basic salaries since 1996 have been: Increase date Basic salary Jan ...
Well a bit after sunrise, about 08:30 hrs, but still looked quite good.
I thought that was what poultry did first thing in the morning, isn't that why a cockeral makes all that noise to get the woman up and about?
@DJ - so true, i know i winge a lot on this site, but mainly about how poorly our services and infrastructure are managed, but what a beautiful part of the country to live in. to a certain degree the lack of investment and building has allowed us to keep what a lot of the country has lost through urbinisation. Over the past 30 years I have moved home as the area I lived in, once a tranquil ...
Taking a walk along the Dawlish seafront last night and happened to notice the brick pool area opposite the entrance to the seafront under the railway bridge was up to the top of the lower wall. Only had my phone on me so the photo's are a bit poor. Also the sea wall has been scoured deeper than I have seen it in the last 12 years or so, in places the wall to the beach level is around 12 ...
@HuwMatthews2 - many thanks for the info, seeing as i have seen the boat with lobster/crab pots on board it explains why.
@FredBassett - a possible explanation for the the time scale may be down to the police believing the accident could end in loss of life. even if no one involved at the rtc was at the time the police arrived. a detailed investigation of the scene is required for assesment of the incident for a possible future arrest/court proceedings.
When I was working on night shift down at the Warren on one of the caravan sites. There was a prolific peeping tom that frequented the caravan sites of an evening who camped in the woods. It's out of holiday season, but he may be making an early start for next year.
Now they are digging the same pavements up that had the slurry poured on them last month !
