A ban on alcohol in a public place has not been enforced in Dawlish. In August 2008 I was informed the subject had come up at three council meetings but the council had turned down a request of a ban. One reason given was quote "The carnival didn't want it" My answer was Teignmouth have a ban on alcohol and still have a carnival. The strand is to receive £1.5 million from Devon County Council towards a much needed facelift as part of the regeneration of Dawlish.
