An application for 61 homes is to be considered by the authority's development control committee at a meeting next Monday.
Barratt Homes want to build up to 61 " Beach Hut "-inspired contemporary new homes.
The land earmarked for the new development is just off Dawlish Warren Road and Shutterton Lane. Out of the 61 homes 43 two, three, four and five-bed, will be in the "market housing" bracket, 18 properties will be in the social rented housing category.
