A GARDEN shed and six metres of fencing were destroyed by fire at a property in Teignmouth. Fire crews from Teignmouth and Dawlish attended the scene after several calls were received reporting a garden shed on fire.

THE body of a man has been found by police on a Teignbridge beach. Police located the man at Dawlish Warren on Tuesday, March 10. The body is believed to be that of 44-year-old Robin Cort, who was reported missing from Exeter, though formal identification has yet to be carried out.

A SCHOOL in Dawlish has been rewarded for creating a truly inclusive environment by walking away with one of the prestigious prizes at the 2026 Youth Sport Trust Awards. A special school for pupils aged four to 19 with communication and interaction needs, including autism, the school was transformed through inclusive sport and play.

DAWLISH aviary will not reopen until at least November, it has been confirmed. But the town council has plans to enhance the popular waterside compound and reintroduce ornamental birds once it is safe.

UKRAINIAN teenager Albina Yevko has been remembered three years after her death. The 14-year-old died after falling four metres from Dawlish sea wall in March 2023. She had come to Dawlish a year earlier, aged 13, with her mother Inna as refugees following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

ENGINEERS repairing the sea wall footpath at Dawlish have urged people to avoid the area while work is completed. Gates were put up recently to prevent walkers using the footpath for safety reasons.

AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a man who went into the sea at Dawlish just before Christmas. A 73 year old Derek Raymond Pike was seen by a member of the public entering the water by the sea wall on December 15th 2025.

COASTGUARDS from Dawlish got in the thick of it with a training session to prepare for mud rescues. The team headed to Passage House in Kingsteignton to revalidate and qualify members for mud rescue.

BLACK Swan couple Bert and Kimba now have a grand total of seven eggs on their nest. The pair, part of the population in Dawlish, are now taking it in turns to sit on the nest which is on the manmade island built on the Brook at Tuck’s Plot.
