That's the best post I've ever read on here.

Except they don't see it as a mistake, it was a vote winner for them and to hell with the consequences for those most in need of housing down the line. I just hope no one is fooled by it this time.
And to put it less eloquently, it's pants. I hope the Planning Application fee covers the bother of dealing with it.
Hi Lynne - thanks for the info. I'm trying to keep up but you have a much better handle on this than me. 1. I'm not confusing pecuniary interest with predetermination but I might be confusing it with Register of Interests. I don't know the nuances but I was observing that his rental of the land has been declared, and if it is Option 4 land then an automatic pecuniary interest must surely exist. ...
That's very amusing. I wonder what the verdict is now. Actually Gregory Fenne is standing, as is Angela Fenne of the same address. All these double acts, do Town Council meetings coincide with date night or something?
More to the point Webmaster look at who reported it in the first place. They're as much of your problem as Mrs C.
Many congratulations Michael and Bob. Will you be using the Carnival float for your nuptials?
SoD - it's comments like that that would deter me from voting tactically for the Lib Dems. Up your game.
If you like your rock music Ol' Lady Biker, the Lansdowne has some good covers bands on at weekends. It used to have a bit of a reputation but it seems fine these days. It also has acoustic artists in the front bar early Friday evenings. Dawlish is also blessed with a small but perfectly formed theatre, the Shaftesbury, which happens to have a play on this week. And keep your diary free for ...
Yes, they'll say anything to get voted in but what they deliver is entirely different to the empty rhetoric of their promises. They'll even stab their colleagues in the front as well as the back. If only national politics was a honourable as local politics.
Sad story from the Express and Echo: Devon traveller John Treagood stranded at Exeter roundabout following death of his horse TRAVELLING man John Treagood has been left stranded on an Exeter roundabout following the death of his faithful horse Gildor. The even tempered, Irish cob horse, which for the past 18 years has happily hauled Mr Treegood and his small wagon home around Devon, died earlier ...
That's just the kind of supercilious response we've come to expect from you Margaret. But well done on making it to that meeting at least. I see from the recent minutes that your attendance record is still woeful.
Who are the members of this working party? And why these oblique reference to other councillors without naming them? Is it a secret?
Are there any notable writers/artists in Dawlish? How about creating a modern day 'fairy story' incorporating past and present, fact and fiction, good and bad. Self publish as a beautifully illustrated book, donate some to local primary schools, sell in local shops, put it in the museum and hope it's still around for generations to come, or at the very least as a memento of a memorable year. ...
@webmaster . Can we have a 'report sarcasm' button please.
Meanwhile in the Gazette 'Tourism group hails Warren campain "resounding success". ' Visitor numbers have rocketed. Who's in charge over there?! http://www.dawlishnewspapers.co.uk/news.cfm?id=26311&headline=Tourism%20group%20hails%20Warren%20campaign%20%E2%80%98resounding%20success%E2%80%99
Just your opinion Burneside. In my opinion the comment was quite clearly in the context of 'nowt so queer as folk' directed at you and your sister for your petty argument with JC over the main route into Paddington. You're cynically contriving it oherwise because, let's face It, Dorian has taken Margaret to task over her behaviour as a councillor and this is your way of settling the score. Now ...
I wonder which land they'll compulsorily purchase to build the road to transport all these new residents and visitors.
Why free bus passes and not free train passes? Is it just a throwback? If you installed Oyster card type readers on buses and at train stations you could quantify how much each company is to be reimbursed by DCC for free/subsidised travel. Presumably the driver already does something similar on buses.
Was the question about avoiding inheritance tax liability or assigning your home to your children while you're still in good health to avoid the cost of a care home later on? With the latter, it's not a fat cat device, 'ordinary' people do it to deprive themselves of a means tested asset. Their children are up for it because their inheritance doesn't get eroded.
Hope they take it to a vet who will know if it's microchipped.
Lynne, how much is this CIL money? I'm playing Devil's Advocate here but, Weeks Farm aside, it's surely not unreasonable the Council wants, indeed needs the money ASAP, not least of all because of the endless complaints about reduced services and withdrawal of grant funding. The money's got to come from somwhere. If £35 to TDC for green waste collections kicks off a riot, it seems they're ...
Enforced absence? Was it at the pleasure of Her Majesty then?
The question is not what the issues are but why they weren't resolved as originally promised. The insurance shortfall is a smokescreen, if the money was there they still couldn't do it because they haven't organised it properly. Not long after the fire I read that the Holmans were pleased with the new plans so what stopped TDC - why wasn't planning permission obtained and the work scheduled? ...
Actually Burneside, I think you're putting the cart before the horse. Mrs C's real identity would inevitably be revealed if your allegations of libel were to be pursued in the first place. It is possible to defame a pseudonym but it's a complex area where in the final analysis damages awarded would have to make it a worthwhile case to bring. A cat fight on Dawlish.com is not going to go the ...
Would be interested to know if any of our Town Councillors are considering standing for TDC.
If I'm reading it right, the plans provide an extension to the existing cycle path on Exeter Road , not changing what's there already. The new path covers the stretch from East Cliff Road into the town.
Isn't that what'll happen anyway as part of their electioneering campaigns? I doubt you'll be able to escape from them. Edit - found this from 2010 election. Shame they're not still available. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sb34t
Another from 1928 from the same site (probably better from the link). http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw023661?search=dawlish&ref=11
I'd read about it but wasn't aware of the location. I just had a quick look at the planning application - pages and pages of documents but sorry to say it passed me by at the time. Maybe when it's not on your doorstep it holds less significance, then it's too late. I hope as they say it will be out of sight, it would be a shame if it scarred such a beautiful vista.
I wonder what constitutes a decent play park these days? A slide, seesaw, roundabout and hopscotch wouldn't pass muster now. What would it take to see swarms of children using one? Or is it just that parents won't let their kids out on their own any more?
I can't say I agree with you Stephen15, it's not an attractive station per se, but it's been massively improved by all the work done since the old bridge was replaced. In the summer it could look even better if some flowering baskets were hung from the gaps in the bridge,
SoD - Mr Weeks had my support even before its recent surge of momentum but beware of mission creep. If you start making mischief over Lady's Mile and getting at JC because she doesn't see it the same way you could end up looking vindictive. That's when support could start falling away. Keep focussed on the orginal goal.
Is your other comment about MC not wanting this high on the agenda a throwaway remark or do you actually mean it?
Scraping the barrel there Burneside!
As per previous suggestions, a blocked filter or kinked outlet pipe might be stopping it from draining and it's cutting out. If you leave it switched off for a few minutes does the door open? (Keep a bucket handy in case there is water in it!). Here's your manual. http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/214996/tricity-bendix-biw-125-w-biw-145.html
I don't want to see photos of someone's misfortune, especially when their condition isn't known. All this is deeply unpleasant.
Is this notion of deterring visitor numbers to Dawlish Warren for real? How can something like that become an objective in an area which is founded on holiday parks and tourism? If it really is a primary goal surely the obvious thing would be to compulsorily purchase a couple of caravan parks. That'd put paid to the visitor numbers (and knock out a sizeable chunk of the local economy into the ...
