Hi there,

I've recently moved to Dawlish in order to care for my parents full time and have to say am feeling like a fish out of water.

I don't have lots of spare time due to my caring commitments, but would like any input for a nice pub for an occasional drink, or anything else going on locally.

Over to you Dawlish.com!  Thanks in anticipation x

You can come and hear me sing, most nights somewhere, I'm  quite well known.

Watch out for this forum  though,  there are some  rather  unpleasant  individuals here.

Most people  in Dawlish are sound.

Oh!

Well thanks for the warning.   Thought I'd left that behind in the big smoke!

As for the singing, I'm more of a metallica girl than Elvis!   No offence meant, honest!

None taken, not my fault that your taste is flawed.

You might like to pop into the Snooky Trust shop on Queen Street.  It's run by a lovely lady called Caz.  Her husband is called Luke and he is well connected into the local music scene.  Several bands are based in Dawlish.

Have you thought about getting involved with the Dawlish Air Show.  They're a lively bunch and it would be a good way to meet some really fun people.  They have a website where you can make contact to volunteer

if you ask at the Manor House. There are many clubs there to join

i realise it's difficult to find ways to have a regular social life when you're a Carer.  I really hope you find something that suits.  Dawlish is a lovely town with so many good people living here, so although it can be difficult as a Newbie, stick with it.  I'm sure it will work out

Further thoughts - there always seems a nice crowd at the Mount Pleasant pub in the Warren, the Marine Tavern has some fun local nights, as does the Legion.  The Brunswick is where it all happens - if you don't mind it a bit loud sometimes. Run by a nice local family who know just about everyone.

Welcome to Dawlish!  You must try the Ship in Cockwood too, they're lovely people and the food is great.  Butterfly halfway up Queen street (next to the Snooky Trust) does some great crafting sessions which you or your parents, depending on how they are, may be interested in.

If you like your rock music Ol' Lady Biker, the Lansdowne has some good covers bands on at weekends.  It used to have a bit of a reputation but it seems fine these days. It also has acoustic artists in the front bar early Friday evenings.   Dawlish is also blessed with a small but perfectly formed theatre, the Shaftesbury, which happens to have a play on this week.   And keep your diary free for 22nd August for the Dawish Airshow - get your friends down from London and show them Dawlish at its best.  Further afield, the Ship at the back beach in Teignmouth has a music festival each year - it was June 21 last year.    Hope you settle in, It might be a culture shock at first but there's plenty to appreciate down here.

Royal British Legion in Park Road. Always welcoming new members and looking for volunteers for the annual Poppy Appeal and other fund raising activities.

Regular entertainment etc.

If you are into photography, I do believe that they have some members that go out for the day on photo shoots.
