@Lynne. We will see those 2 railway lines dangling in mid air again, and the Plymouth Mob will get their oar in the programme. I did not know that the coast was counted as being in the country.
Plymouth mob as you call them, not to forget, Torbay and Cornwall. together they help keep the line in place. Dawlish benefits from those people coming to the town, unless of course you don't want them!
@Wondering. By all means they can come down and spend their money. I have nothing against that. I (just my own opinion) dont like them coming on Radio/TV etc.etc. saying what should happen to that railway line. Maybe they should pay in more so that the Seawall is made more resilant to bad weather, rather than going on and on about a additional/alternative line. and yes, I do come down to Dawlish and spend my money and I am unemployed. and I come down more than once per year. And given the chance I would live here.
The guy's call to the emergency services was composed in the extreme. I'd have been flapping big time.
Well done Margaret and the Friends of Dawlish Station for making our station more welcoming.
@Sandycott. Dawlish station has always been lovely, and well done Margaret and your friends for the flowers.
I can't say I agree with you Stephen15, it's not an attractive station per se, but it's been massively improved by all the work done since the old bridge was replaced. In the summer it could look even better if some flowering baskets were hung from the gaps in the bridge,
We have explored hanging baskets but it is not a viable option on our station. Not sure which gaps in the bridge you refer to but I doubt we would be allowed to hang anything from the bridge for health and safety reasons.
Thank You for your appreciation stephen15 and Sandycott. We are a small team and could always do with more help so anyone out there who would like to join us would be most welcome.
