Tree felling going on and what was the grassy cul-de-sac at the top of Carhaix Way is now a way into and out of the building site. Some 250 or so new homes to be built I believe. (and don't forget that all the new housing will provide lots more customers for that new supermarket just across the way............)

There's more about all of this in today's Gazette. See front page and page 3.

@Myrtle "In Dawlish town centre all you can buy is fudge and ice-cream". That isn't quite true, is it? On The Strand there is the Co-op, a butcher's, a green-grocer's, a couple of bakers, a shoe-shop, a florist, a toy-shop come bits and bobs shop, Boots, LLoyds, One-Stop (with post office). Apologies if I've left any others out. Will they be negatively affected by the out of town supermarket? ...

So, just out of interest where, in Dawlish/Dawlish Warren, would I be able to book holiday ...

From my point of view it is all to do with location. Shutterton bridge okay, Lady's Mile (or Sandy Lane Playing Fields previous to that) not okay. Don't, or didn't, care about which brand of supermarket. However........... Previous to Tesco's planning app. to build at Sandy Lane and their arrogant attitude towards those of us who objected to it, I didn't have any particular feelings for or ...

and don't forget they far from endeared themselves to quite a few in Dawlish when they had it in their minds to sell the football ground off to Tesco. Not that it was Dawlish Town's land to sell - they only lease(d) it from TDC.
