Does anyone know what the plans are for this building? It's been all boarded up for some time now.

I agree the current bandstand needs to be replaced but am unsure on whether traditional or modern is preferable. Both have their merits but the scale of the new structure seems to be a concern to many. An example of a modern 'bandstand' can be seen in the Manor Gardens in Exmouth . If you get the chance to go along to their festival next week you will see what our town could provide to ...
Seemed ok to me. Had a good time, but I guess didnt stay till the end so I didnt see any problems. Amazing to me that the police are imposing draconian rules. This doesnt seem to apply to the pubs in Dawlish when they are open till 2/3 am on Friday and saturday and you get punters in the streets singing, beeping cars, swearing and fighting when they kick out? This happens nearly every weekend and ...
What do you expect from a right wing rag? Its purpose is to keep us voting conservative and to keep us busy by preying on our anxieties. Within days of the general election win, the right wing papers started turning its guns on people on benefits, immigrants and the disabled, as a ploy to move the spotlight away from big business and MPs stealing from us. The more we are worried about people on ...
Try looking on the Surfers against Sewage website Hollie. They regularly organise beach cleans and may have some advice/information
Dawlish Community Consultation meeting Date: 25 Mar 2014 Location: Mayor's Parlour, Dawlish Manor house. Time 6pm This is an open meeting for the residents of Dawlish to give their views and support to the Neighbourhood Policing team and decide on Local policing priorities. Whilst there are some set topics for discussion in the main this is an open agenda which will draw upon the views of local ...
Can English Heritage or the Railway Heritage Trust not help with the repairs? It would be such a shame for Dawlish to lose this piece of history.
@FredBassett - i understood that the signal box was going to be unlisted as its no longer safe? not sure why they couldn't repair or move it to another location as surely when they dismantle it , that part of the platform will still need to be sectioned off. If you want to see what the conservation department do approve of, have a look at the plans on their website for 34 Park Road!!
Dawlish town centre makes more sense than the Warren to me ,we need to find ways of getting people to spend more time (and money) in the town.On dull days, a modern , child friendly museum with sensible opening times would be a great alternative to the amusement arcades. Surely we deserve a museum comparable to the one at Teignmouth. Personally, I like the manor house idea but should the site be ...
@Brookyln Bridge. I agree completely. Seagull chicks are waking me up every morning but unless all my neighbours agree to 'bird-proof' their roof tops as well, there is little point me doing so. I did spot some seagulls perched on our lovely new lampposts along the strand this morning. I do hope the council and the new town manager get some expert advice and maybe negotiate a discount for ...
Just had a look at the planting of the 'mud banks'. I'm no gardening expert but it looks like some of the plants are likely to grow to 4-5 ft thus replacing our stone wall along the Strand with a 'green' wall instead! They've chosen to plant the tallest shrubs opposite the trees on the Lawn so when they grow taller they will probably 'meet' the lower branches. Also, none of the plants appear to ...
So its probaby a 'waiting game' for the owners. If the building continues to deterioate then TDC will have another application for its demolition in a few years time .......In that case, what it the point of having conservation areas and listed buildings? no one seems to be interested, unless of course its a new housing development of boxes. Sorry folks, rant over!
Have just noticed the revised plans submitted by Teign Housing, you can see the details on the Teignbridge website. That part of town is going to get even busier with traffic if planning is agreed.
Does anyone know often the new pavements will be cleaned ? It certainly puts you off shopping at the co-op, the pavement outside that shop is horrible. Most of the mess seems to be left by dogs, pigeons and seagulls. Are they trying to tell us something!l
Not sure if its all related to 'The Wall' but the amount of traffic using Park Road seems to have increased significantly in the last few weeks.
A.S.B. in the Community Date: 30 May 2013 Location: Dawlish Police Office, Brunswick Place, Dawlish Contact: PC Faichney, PCSOs Cairns & Pettinelli The Neighbourhood Beat Manager and his Team will be holding a series of meetings to discuss Anti Social Behaviour and its affects in the Community. Alcohol licence sounds great but not sure how our emergency services would cope with the extra workload for any drunken, dangerous behaviour. As far as I know, there is no vehicle access to the beach? Alcohol could be restricted to certain times of the day but of course people may decide to take along their own! Music licence also sounds great but I'm not sure I'd want to listen to it all day long ...
Personally, most of my weekly shop is done here but I live and work locally. A lot of residents work near Exeter or Newton Abbot so it may be more convenient for them to go to Tescos or ASDA after work or even shop online. Also, a lot of our retirement community have access to cars so they may well choose to travel further to pick up the bargains. Our shopping habits have changed and I dont think ...

I totally agree, but if other people's behaviours are having an adverse affect on you, your family or your friend's life, home or business than that's a good indication. If in doubt, I'm sure the local community police team in Dawlish will be happy to help answer any questions. noise levels ie Customers leaving licences premises/food outlets , amplified music, car/motor bike engine revving dumping ...
I'm sure the town centre would greatly beneft from a reduction in numbers and also make the Lawn a much more pleasant area to picnic in. There are a number of specialist companies out there, if enough businesses and individuals got together with Dawlish and teignbridge council, could we not negotiate discounted fees and make our town a cleaner , safer and more family friendly place to visit. If ...
The Sunburnt Arms can be restricted to 12am in the 'tourist area' of Dawlish Warren but the the Lansdown pub can stay open to 3am? Doesn't seem fair on the Dawlish residents to me?
Can everyone who has experienced anti-social behaviour/trading outside licenced hours in Dawlish town centre please come along on the 24 April at 6.30pm at the Manor House. If we all start talking and working together we will have a much better chance of making Dawlish a town to be proud of. Bring along as many examples of incidents as you can ie dates/photos! The police are concentrating their ...
