Thanks Brazilnut, exactly my point, we need more housing everywhere in the UK and South Devon is no exception.

Housing requirements, easy, ask the council, I know people who have been on the waiting list for over a year and still waiting. About time we stopped talking and got building.

BBC report 30/08/2011 The housing market will be plunged into "crisis"' without government action to address the "chronic under-supply of homes", a body representing housing associations in England has warned. The National Housing Federation (NHF) said it risked locking an entire generation out of the housing market. It predicted further falls in home ownership rates and even higher rents. The ...

Sainsbury's Bus

Was told today that Sainsbury's are to start a shopping bus service on 10th October, can anyone confirm this?.

Instead of VAT on slot machines the new idea is to impose a new tax every amusement machine, basically it's a tax on turnover, then the companies still have to pay their normal tax. What makes this even more unfair is it extremely difficult to increase costs for amusement machines due to the money being 'collected' by the coin mechanism. Presents / Thontons

I buy a lot of presents and cards there, whatever time I go in, opening time or late in the day have always found everyone there to be friendly and helpful. Having dealt with clients/customers for many years I find the attitude of the customer is often reflected by the staff in any business, enough said!!

Dawlish Carnival
21 Aug 2011

Shame on you Sainsburys, you've only been open 2 weeks and already destroyed the Dawlish Carnival, just trying to work out how your opening in August prevented people from making Floats this year. Am sure all Dawlish residents will be happy to see you close down soon due to lack of support then we will have a decent Carnival again next year. The power wielded by supermarkets is truly awesome!!

Post office

Tesco bought it's first One Stop Stores in 2003. I don't think One Stop was one group, I think they might have been independents operating as a group as Tesco aquired another 77 One Stop stores only last year, these were owned by the MIlls Group but didn't operate under the One Stop name. These are being converted to One Stop branding by Tesco as Tesco are aware that they do not have a good image ...

The Strand
12 Aug 2011

You can't judge a business by a 'snapshot' at one time, have just got home from Sainsburys, 20:30, and there were queues at every checkout, many prices, especially veg are up to half the price of anywhere in Dawlish. But some things are dearer, forget prices, if a person can go to one shop, park outside for free and get everything they need, then that's where they will shop. Many people only look ...
