Not a lot has changed Stu - therefore it's still a great place to visit! The old Woolies store is soon going to be bought, whilst planning permission is being sought to convert the former Threshers premises into an office. Dining wise, since you were last here Too Delicious (next door to the Deli) is now a licenced premises serving excellent meals during the day and in the evening too now. ...

Well said PJD. I agree with you 100% on this subject and with the writer of the similarly-veined letter published in this week's Gazette.

Can you provide any examples where pedestrianisation has turned other towns into "ghost towns"? Thanks.

I think that the suggested proposal to pedestrianise the Strand has a lot of merits, but like others have stated, there are a number of considerations that have to be carefully thought through. Pedestrianisation has worked well in a number of towns, leading to a healthy, vibrant and safe atmosphere within these towns for both shoppers and shop-keepers.
