Hello, I am relatively new to Dawlish (3 years) and have been going to most Dawlish Town home games for the past season and will do this season. It astounds me that they don't get more supporters. They play at a decent level. The price is reasonable. Everyone is friendly. There were some brilliant games last season. So why do people stay away? Thanks, slargemail
It is just a very big shame that the team and players suffer :-( I had an idea it may be something like that.
From what I understand, PJD is correct re. the reasoning. What it is about Mr Fenner, I don't know as I've never had any personal dealings with him during my visits to Sandy Lane. Good luck to the Seasiders this season, I think it will be a very challenging prospect for the new manager, but fingers crossed that they make progress both in local competitions and national competitions (as they did in the FA Vase last season).
Went afew times last season and always enjoyed it. It seems Mr Fenner has few fans , but its a shame to club suffers due to him. After all they are putting our name on the Map.
Is that why everyone stays away? I know the games aren't very well advertised around the town unless you look in the tourist information window or up at Sandy Lane. Dawlish is quite a big town and sometimes we get a crowd of around 90 but at other times less than 40 and that maybe counting the players and officals :-D. For the big games though we should be getting well over 100. We play Totnes tonight in a friendly. We look to have picked up a few good players :-) If would be good to see more people there despite people not liking the chairman.
I agree slargemail it would be good to see the Town supporting the club. the more succesful they are the more money the town attracts. Look at how many Gresley fans travelled from Derbyshire last season. Many of them stayed in the Town and Warren giving a good financial boost at a time when things are usually very quiet. Cant make it tonight as im out of the area , so good luck to them
Dawlish are playing very well recently since Gary Fisher became Player Manager. It would be good to get more supporters and not just the ones that peer over the fence and don't pay.
Everyone on here seems to like living in Dawlish, please support your local club
Agree on the pitch doing very well, but you need to get your head out of the clouds. Investigate a bit more and you will get your answers. Dawlish United is better supported I wonder why
I understand there is some issue with the Chairman but wish that was forgotten to some extent.
How many people watch Dawlish United first team then?
When Mr. Fenner came in he had a thriving committee with quite a few personnel to work voluntary. He has pissed everone of them off disbanded the Social Club and runs alone with the exception of 2 tea hut staff. Think on, this man has shite on everybody
