Here's a sensible reason why Tesco should be rejected - it would kill off the town centre! Exactly why does a town the size of Dawlish need TWO out of town stores? And Tesco sell a lot of goods that compete with non-food stores too. Anther sensible reason - the effect of refridgerated lorries and additional traffic on the people who live close to the proposed site And let's not knock the Co-op - ...

Seagull spikes are very cheap and easy to install. You buy them in strips and glue them on to roof ridges and other high places. However, it doesn't have to cost - we have neighbours who prevent seagulls nesting behind their chimney by blocking the space with wirenetting - it cost them nothing except the effort to put it there. I don't think this is an issue we should say "Councils and DEFRA" ...

Tax your car on line, it's quick and easy and you can do it at home - without queuing!

Not only do employees working at County Hall have to pay for parking, they are also not allowed to park there every day, so some days they are forced to use transport other than their own car to get to work. I suspect this scheme is cost effective, being funded from the parking charge. How many of us who work for private companies that give us free parking would accept having to pay or not being ...

SEAGULL PROBLEMS

I think the onus should be put on householders and businesses to prevent them from nesting on roofs. If everyone took action the problem would be much reduced. We make sure they don't nest behind our chimney, but we have close neighbours who don't seem to mind having seagulls on their roof - and we get the flack! Perhaps there should be a bylaw to make it illegal to let them nest on your roof? ...

A bit of an eye opener, thanks! To be fair, you have to check when the inspection was done as if it was a while ago they may have improved by now. But, it's interesting to see some who've had a recent inspection ... =================================== http://www.dawlishblue.co.uk

Seagulls

One answer would be to stop them nesting in the first place by putting seagull spikes on roof ridges so they can't land, and by blocking up nesting areas on roofs (wire netting works) so they can't build their nests. We've managed to stop them from nesting on our roof. It's kinder than shooting them! The council could help by putting up more seagull spikes around town, for example, on the top of ...

A new cycle path, that's an excellent idea! Good for Sainsburys. Why stop it?

Black Swans

The problem is, if you ban the drinking of alcohol in a public place, it then applies to everyone. Which means a family wanting a tin of beer or glass of wine with their picnic on the lawn in summer wouldn't be able to. And it could make it difficult to get a licence for a beer tent for an event on the lawn. Do we want to stop EVERYONE from enjoying themselves just because one or two are a ...
