I think this relates to Trump being in charge of the USA and his isolationism. Trump's attacks on the EU and on NATO must be music to Putin's ears.
Trump and Putin also can't wait for Brexit to happen.
Leave with a "No deal" or leave with the deal that is an the table now. I don't care which one it is, but lets get out. We can work with whatever one it is and work it out.

The EU cannot control us if we are outside of the EU. Germany lost 2 world wars, but have positioned themselves with France to take over the EU and the proposed EU army.
