This has just gone on the town council's website (better late than never eh?) http://www.dawlish.gov.uk/edit/uploads/1006.pdf The winter edition should be out early next month.
Just come back from a function that had the most fantastic buffet and am told the customer/client service was just as brilliant. www.lyns-catering.co.uk
In a word. Yes. It is part of the Cavanna/Bovis Homes development being built along Secmaton Lane. I walked through Elm Grove Wood and past James Plantation only this morning. Trees have been felled in James Plantation and there are notices all along its boundary fence with Elm Grove Wood warning of tree felling. I also noticed on the Elm Grove Wood side of the fence that circular yellow ...
Just been down there again - could get through this time although the area was still very wet and there were some puddles about. There were a couple of site workers working where yesterday's flood had been so I asked them what had caused it. From what I can gather from their reply, they (the construction workers) had come across a load of water further up on the site yesterday that they weren't ...

“Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past. If all time is eternally present All time is unredeemable.” T.S. Eliot http://www.artofeurope.com/eliot/eli5.htm
Thought I would bring to your attention this submission by TDC's Green Infrastructure Co-ordinator concerning the planning application (due to be heard later this month) by Shutterton Park Ltd to build some 300 or so houses behind Sainsbury's. The points (which I've highlighted in red) made by the Green Infrastructure Co-ordinator concerning allotments and fruit/nut growing trees and ...
Wasn't able to go myself as had a prior engagement that took me out of Dawlish for the whole of last Sunday so not able to make any comment based on personal experience, but I see from this week's Gazette that the event has a good write up and that someone even took time out to write a letter to the paper saying how much they had enjoyed it.
I don't know if it has yet been decided how the money will be spent. I guess though that Cllr Rosalind Prowse or David Force would be two people who might be involved with deciding how it gets used. So you could try contacting them for more info.
Just got back from this, having bought some really appetising goodies. Very busy. Lots of cakes, and savouries, and breads, and meats, and home made chutneys and marmalades and jams and cheeses. And there was a deli. And outside there was a fruit and veg stall. Really hope it is succesful and can be a monthly event. It certainly got me into the town today.
Just had a mooch around there. Make sure you breath in - there's lots and lots and lots of stuff and not a lot of room left to be able to walk around and view it! Took me a while to find Ellie's Attic. But taking the first turning on the right after you enter Shutterton Industrial Estate would be a basic direction to go in. Then look to the left as you go up that right hand turn. (and yes ...
I see there is a thread running on Eyes of Dawlish about this with some interesting comments for, against, and amending the idea I put forward above. Great. That's what ideas are for. To be thrashed out, thought about and, if necessary, to be chucked out. But in order for that to happen of course they have to be 'out there' in the public domain. So, does anyone else have any other ideas for ...
As things concerning the railway are topical at the moment I thought it appropriate to post this. http://www.discoveringbritain.org/walks/region/south-west-england/south-devon-railway.html There's an article about 'our' railway line on page 17 of this week's Dawlish Post. Here's an extract: "The railway line between Exeter and Newton Abbot is being highlighted by a national body as one of ...
Red and blue as I write this. Take a look at it from Lea Mount or somewhere of similar height above sea level.
and here are some Christmas vacancies with Debenhams in Torquay and Exeter http://search.debenhams-jobs.com/vacancylist.cfm?start=1
There's an article about this in this week's Dawlish Gazette. According to the paper the work is due to start in early January and be finished by beginning of May next year. Work will be suspended over the Easter weekend.
Why should I feel guilty? Because my house is built where an orchard once stood? As it happens if my house was built on the site of an old factory I would still be arguing the same about the provision of allotments etc. I am no more denying people having roofs over their heads then planners deny people having roofs over their heads by demanding that housing developments have green areas in them ...
Phoned the number given on the flyer today as have some things needing dry cleaning. Guess what? The people who ran the dry cleaners in Queen Street on the very same people as are advertising on that flyer. So.....we do have dry cleaning service in Dawlish - it's just that it no longer has a shop front.
Better hurry if you are interested in applying -applications have to be in by tomorrow! http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/jobs/index.aspx?articleid=16653

Perhaps a new road will need to be built? Wonder how that will get funded? As you say Flo - the traffic around that area is already congested.

As I know not everyone gets the Dawlish Post delivered I thought I'd reproduce here an article that is on page 14 of this week's edition concerning social housing tenants and how rents may be affected if incomes increase. Here's the article: " Claims that new social housing tenancy rules could encourage some people to give up work or risk losing their homes have been dismissed by the leadership ...
Would that explain my lack of water supply do you think?
