Obviously not a lot of grocks around or they would have been divebombing them for their chips etc.
For nearly two weeks in 1970 Devon held its breath in fear of disaster on its doorstep, after horrified locals woke to see the hulking burnt out wreck of the Pacific Glory, containing thousands of barrels of crude oil, had been towed from the Solent and moored in Lyme Bay. Now an author and historian is retelling the story and says it is a 'forgotten scandal'. "I would like to speak to anybody ...

Looks like there is a candidate for one of the awards.
Saw it today for the first time. It is on the right hand side if travelling towards Exeter, just past the turning that goes down to Cofton Holiday Park. as you say @flo - it does look nasty and hope whoever was in it is okay.
Has it actually gone downhill or is it the advent of social media and 24 hour news. I was a teenager when you moved down leatash and it definitely wasn't perfect then, just not as publicised.
Last Thursday night between 10pm and 5am somebody came onto our property and helped themselves to a stone gnome. It is not worth anything However, it does have sentimental value to my wife, it was a wedding present to her parents when they were married in 1940, they were married for 68 years and her mother passed away last December aged 99 years old. So if anyone knows who has taken this maybe ...

Why would anyone do that???? Thankfully it wasn’t anywhere near as warm as it has been this summer, but even so. At least the dog didn’t look in distress. PS Did you manage to get to 100% of your target steps for the day?
@leatash and cassandra, thankyou.
I read an article about this fund in the paper yesterday and thought I'd bring what it said to the attention of readers of this site in case they have children/grandchildren born between the dates shown above. Between the dates shown above, when the Child Trust Fund was in operation, every child received a voucher for £250 from the government to be put into the fund. Thing is, that from what I ...
Well Lynne in the very near future you will have to, the day of the High Street Bank is nearly over.
Teams from Middlemoor in Exeter and Dawlish raced to the scene, which was reportedly near Stile Farm, shortly before 8.30pm on Friday night. Eyewitness Charlotte Crouch said: "It's now smouldering. The fire fighters were there controlling it until the small hours. Read more... https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/fire-crews-scrambled-tackle-massive-1958990
If you made a Power of Attorney between 1.4.13 and 31.3.17 it is highly likely that you were charged too much and you are now able to get that overcharge refunded. See link below for more info (but lots more links if you just do a search with the words Power of Attorney fee refund.) https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/02/millions-of-people-owed-power-of-attorney-refund/
Must have come through the back roads as it didn’t come up Badlake Hill. Was removed by low loader pretty promptly at about 8.30pm.
I thought this was Hotel Trump. There has been so much bickering, so many misleading comments, so many unanswered questions, so on and so forth. Some do not like what others have said about them, others claim to know more than they really do and others that don't know will make it up. So I think Hotel Trump fits the bill quite nicely. What do others think?
As you've so kindly raised the subject of housing supply .......... "It has been speculated that Brexit might lead to more people choosing to retire in the UK, rather than in EU countries (Spain has been a popular destination up until now). Devon is already one of the most popular destinations in the UK for retirees. Further flows from within the UK could represent a boost to the economy, as ...
Although they see nothing wrong having 1000's of home's built with little to no supporting infrastructure, outstanding. Keep up the great work elected officials.
Nice to know Ziggy that both EU and your dog enjoy going there.

@DEEDOODLE I would put all Abrahamic religions in the same box as they have similar roots to their beliefs
Maybe we should try harder to make it the case? Comments like " It always seems to be by the same few." don't help. When someone throws insults around don't throw them back etc.
I agree. As we still don't know the long-term effects of vaping we shouldn't be providing it. People should get support to stop but replacing one addiction thing with another even if currently appears "healthier" is not a solution.
I will happily debate/discuss any subject with anyone but there is no need for insults about the subject of the discussion (if a person or persons) or the person you are discussing with. The people on here have differing opinions and that is a good thing as it should allow for a good discussion but once insults start flying around the discussion quickly goes off the subject. There really is no ...

Saw Gary last night. He seemed to enjoying himself. Does anyone know who the drummers were who were last in the parade. I thought they were great. Edit: To answer my own question - seems they are called Spark. https://www.facebook.com/dawlishcelebratescarnival/videos/2012238218840750/
I wonder if these trains will be as popular as the HST, and still be a workhorse of the railways in 40 years time? Someone I know who uses them on the Bristol route is far from impressed with these new trains. I guess we'll soon find out.

There was a suggestion in 2016/17 that a large playpark should be sited between the bandstand and the bowling green. Whilst some welcomed this suggestion it proved contentious, and anyway what had been proposed to the public in the 2016 consultation(a large playpark taking up most of that space) had subsequently been reduced in size as what had been proposed, due to cost, was not viable. So what ...
