Well done to whoever on the Council arranged for the lighted swans on the bridge, tthey look fab in the dark. And so do he lights over the brook, as they always have done. And to think, not too long ago some councillors wanted to get rid of the lights over the Brook and replace them with modern rubbish that would have not looked anywhere near as attractive as the 'old fashioned' lights!

Are we missing the point here? I think the council have a right to protect parking spaces for those paying to use the Manor but I do NOT think they have a right to lock up an empty car park every weekend and over holiday periods thus preventing local people parking there to ease conjestion on the surrounding roads. If anything the EU has made war more ...

Japanese rules - no proof of parking permit from local authority at your property then car ownership registration not permitted at that address. Better still force developers including those doing flat conversions to provide at least one off road parking space for each bedroom created.

Can we agree that both NATO (formed late 1940s) and the embyronic EU (Common Market formed mid/late 1950s * between France, West Germany, Italy and the Benelux countries) were created as a reaction to WWII and its aftermath. * but note that  i n 1951, the Treaty of Paris was signed, creating the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). This was an international community based on ...
