According to the BBC, a further nine Stokes greengrocers have closed across the South West after failing to attract a buyer. The Bristol, Exeter, Falmouth, Honiton, Sherborne, Tavistock, Torquay, Totnes and Wadebridge stores have closed resulting in 72 redundancies. A blue Fiat Punto which failed to stop for a routine check in the Mamhead area was chased by police. The authorised chase ended in Barton Terrace, Dawlish, where a 20-year-old man was arrested and released on police bail until December 9th. A Dawlish man and two boys from Teignmouth age 16 and 17 have appeared in court accused of 'physically and mentally' torturing a cat. It is alleged the one-year-old cat was put in a microwave oven, tumble dryer and freezer. The case was adjourned until October 8th. The cat is being cared for by the RSPCA.
