Yes Dawlishman it was great and as you say everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves except maybe those miserable so and so's that seem to hog this website! What must they be like to live with!!
I've studied it intensely because I have had first hand experience at running several PO's during the years so I know what it entails, I know what has caused its demise, I know there are lots of people in villages up and down the country that haven't got public transport, or are unable to use it, and unable to afford taxis. I also know there are lots claiming disability and benefits that ...
you know nothing at all about PO's and how they operate do you? otherwise you wouldnt make such an uninformed comment. You also sound like a very uncaring person. Decisions are taken by the Government who stopped TV licences being paid over the counter, changed to a card system to replace pension books, etc. and now want to withdraw that and the list of services withdrawn by them goes on and on. ...
Agree with Wondering. Strand would be much better pedestrianised. As it is we have to breathe in all those traffic fumes, look out for car doors opening, etc. Incredibly unpleasant shopping experience, no wonder most people go elsewhere! Did anyone hear when we are getting the town centre plan that was being undertaken by Yellow Book and is it being discussed with residents?
yes Olive, regarding your posting Boots, etc are all chains but chains have to be profitable and have targets. If they fail to reach these targets they are closed. What becomes of our Post Office if One-Stop is not viable, no-one else will want to take on a Post Office at the moment (other than Tesco of course!) Who wants to see lots of empty shops on The Strand - empty shops bring despair, ...
From the consultation held on the Lawn a few weeks ago, the idea is to come up with a plan by the company contracted to carry out the public consultation which will then be submitted for funding after consultation with residents and Dawlish Community Trust. From the ideas put forward then the consensus seems to be to make the Lawn more attractive with various areas possibly a playground? and to ...
Great idea play area needs to be in area where seen. Took my small grandson up to Manor Park the other day and play area was occupied by year 6 potential hooligans and foul mouthed kids (girls) from Westcliffe School as well as older boys playing truant. No-one can see anything up there it is totally the wrong place. We refused to be intimated but many people with small children would be.
Think lots of us would like the Strand to be pedestrianised, trouble is the councillors here are not forward thinking - it was one of their ridiculous ideas to have double parking down the Strand. A neighbour complained to the councillor that she thought it was dangerous with car doors opening onto the road, but she said it was a waste of time talking to him as apparently it was his idea to start ...
No, you are wrong in your assumption. I have eaten at both establishments as a genuine customer with no bias towards either. The Witches Bowl in my opinion is more intimate and more special for a romantic dinner for two. For families then the Ugly Duckling may be better as it does burgers and most things with chips which are popular with kids. I have found both friendly and good service. At the ...
