I wouldnt bother opening a shop again and I just dont see why anyone would! You know the saying 'only the strong survive', in recent years Barclays Bank, HSBC, Woolworths and Threshers, all big names have left Dawlish, so 'well done' to the small retailers for hanging in. I can see the problem and difficulty though, if you want to have a change and move on and sell your premesis.
I cant think what is best for Woolies. Rates etc are so high and the Internet is here with offers. Wonder if it could be a four shop unit or a indoor market, though that would not go down well with other traders. Rumour was around that Weatherspoons wanted it, again Dawlish is not big enough for them. Iceland bought about 60 Woolies around the country but didnt want to be in Dawlish.. Trouble is ...
Wilkinsons have aquired the store in the Guildhall in Exeter, would think Dawlish is not a big enough town for them and potential sales. We will see.

Well done Sainsburys at last a decent Supermarket. Well it was what the town wanted. I reckon had they voted for Tesco there would have been some explaining why lol.

Had a letter today from Sainsburys saying Teignmouth DC will decide on 29 March, but TESCO is recommended by the planning officer. Email chair of planning committee: howard.milton@teignbridge.gov.uk if you have a view, or contact a local Councillor. but its all in the bag for Tesco it seems! You have to hand it to Tesco they can do just what they want and nobody ever objects!
Sainsburys staff to me are far more polite, I dont think Tesco are bothered on customer services, I used to go to Tesco NA and found grumpy checkout staff, customers are such a nuisance you know!. I still dont see Tesco as cheap. I was in Kinsteighton last week and popped in Tesco Express spotted the Hovis bread at £1.15, well that I buy in Dawlish Costcutters at £1.09. Tesco have a clever ...
Never bought petrol in my life! ..am not proud to go by bus..Asda online deliver if a big shop is needed.
