@FRONTERAMAN - thanks for the clarification. agree that local businesses cannot compete with the new supermarket and i agree that many will not survive. however, at least one new supermarket is what we are all gonna get. "competition to Sainsbury's" howsabout the big new Morrison's planned for Teignmouth? Are you also saying that had Tesco been given planning permission to build at L. Mile and ...
Fronteraman: I have a query which hopefully you can clarify for me which is ...... when you talk (see your penultimate posting above) of all the traffic problems caused by double deckers, caravans, Sainsbury's traffic etc you also say " and hopefully Tesco's lorries". So, are you saying that you want there to be two supermarkets? I only ask as I got the impression that you think Dawlish shouldn't ...
Does anyone know if local (ie within the parish of Dawlish or, say, 5 miles around it) people are being employed on the house building scheme at the Warren and the new supermarket at Shutterton Bridge? I don't mean being employed once the supermarket is up and running, I mean now when it is being built. Anyone?

As I've mentioned the government's Localism Bill on other threads recently thought I'd just bring to your attention that our MP, Anne-Marie Morris, has also written about it in this week's Dawlish Gazette. (see page 8 "Power To The People".) Also at tomorrow's (Friday 28th) open day at the Manor House officers from Teignbridge Council will be available to talk about it. Manor House open ...
Thankyou. (and yes, the irony of my being bullied on this thread had not gone unnoticed by me either).
It was merely a suggestion and I'll tell you why. Because............if no-one, or very few, in Dawlish let him know that we do not wish to have the tip closed then he can say, with hand on heart, that he has not been on the end of an overwhelming protest. Thus, if the tip shuts it will do so with him being under the belief that its survival was not worth his fighting for as most of Dawlish don't ...
Oh dear here we go again. The reason I pointed out that my child was happy at the school is because that is the case. Others are similarly so. Others it seems are not. I was merely trying to portray more of a balanced picture. I would be interested to know how I have not shown courtesy to others? Please give me examples. I feel perfectly at liberty to correct any misinformation posted on this ...
Perhaps those who object to the closure of the Shutterton tip could make representations to that effect to our Devon County Councillor. John.Clatworthy@devon.gov.uk
Don't follow your logic there Fronterman re Tesco's. How can Sainsbury's being given planning permission mean that Tesco will win their Appeal? Tesco might win their Appeal but equally might not. Not sure how Sainsbury's already building has set a precedence at this moment in time. I've put at this moment in time in italics because it may be that in the future an argument could be made for a ...
