Does anyone know if local (ie within the parish of Dawlish or, say, 5 miles around it) people are being employed on the house building scheme at the Warren and the new supermarket at Shutterton Bridge?
I don't mean being employed once the supermarket is up and running, I mean now when it is being built.
Anyone?
Cor Lynne you really know how to pick a sore topic and get peoples backs up. Apparently the site foreman is very approachable allthough rather worried that the equipment and workers may come under attack from local protestors.
Perhaps you should go down the site and ask him. I personally dont know any locals currently working there but I do remember telling someone that the jobs before and after construction would not go to local people. Oh well !!!!
Councillor Tullis may like to answer this one she seems to have a liking for new houses oh providing there is a bridle path through them
Absolutely no intention at all of getting people's backs up (honest, promise) just a genuine query which popped into my mind this morning as I was musing about the local economy whilst doing some mega boring domestic chores.
Which site foreman are you on about? There are two sites presently under construction - houses at the Warren and the supermarket at Shutterton Lane although the two virtually back onto each other.
Local elections in May might be very interesting. Am picking up vibes that you are not the only one looking to stand as an independent candidate.
@Lynne - sainsbury's of course, but they are all the same really. interesting comment about local economy you mean with have one or how we wont have one in the future ha ha ha
