Dont bring my beloved Manchester into this, Moss Sise is not as bad as you think, i doubt you've ever been there, there are much worse places to compare Dawlish to, not that Dawlish is anything like any inner city suburb, but look a bit closer to home like Plymouth for instance, its not without its fair share of problems.
That'll be the chinese lanterns as you say nothing else, nothing mechanical, nothing spooky just plain old lanterns, now lets all come back down to earth as these things eventually do, lol
This is true, 33 yr old local woman fell from the path above the toilet to the boats below, apparently she hoped over the barrier to relieve herself and slipped, thoughts go out to her family and friends who were with her, very sad incident.
I have children at DCC and havent heard anything but will investigate
