Andysport - not knowing where your bonnet lever is in your car is worrying. How do you do the routine checks on your oil, screen wash or engine coolant? If you don't do those do you ever check your tyres for tread depth and pressure? What about checking your lights? How about checking your brakes? If you don't do any of those things then how do you know your car is safe to use on the road? If ...
They have some nice and some interesting stuff, some typical tat that not many would want. Not a huge amount of people buying when I went to one so worth a visit - you could definitely pick up a bargain!
No, I don't think it's a play to make a different use of the area. I think it's more likely that as it has returned to the hands of Teignbridge they have gone back to their apathetic don't really give a stuff what happens to Dawlish ways. Cynical, moi?
But, Nelson, nothing in the report suggests that it is just Tories that are causing the problems in Cullompton (nor otherwise) and as the two councillors that have resigned are independent then it's not obvious what their political leanings are. It may be old/new guard falling out or it may be a touch of in-fighting which is what has been happening in Dawlish causing the deputy mayor to resign. ...
Frederick - I think you'll find that the Warden is the one that makes the decisions on the housing of cygnets and their parents in the pen. As the swans have a monetary value surely by ensuring their survival he is doing what he is paid to do? The mallards aren't owned by the town council so they take their chances (most of the time) with the gulls - nasty to see a duckling being ripped apart ...
I thought the letters were a fair representation of Dawlish - One ex-Tory councillor, one ex- Lib-Dem councillor Martin Dix who watches all councils quite closely Someone who wasn't a councillor and then the Anthonys - an ex-councillor and his wife who is a Labourite and uses whatever opportunity he can to criticise the Tories even if he doesn't mention them in person!!
Somewhere as unlike Dawlish Warren as possible - it's my idea of hell!
But most of the shops and cafes open on Sundays from Easter anyway. There's no point in opening on a wet Sunday in January but once the season kicks off at Easter most places go right through until October half-term. I tried staying open in the winter in a previous business - got as far as end of November when I stopped breaking even and started losing money.
Ofsted grade them about the same. My child went to Gatehouse and did well there. Different head and deputy head then. Since the current leadership have been appointed lots of staff have left. Read into that what you will but personally having met one of the most senior staff there I would want to visit both schools before applying. I didn't that member of staff at all.
Poke. I'm on facebook - insisted on my kids having me as a friend when I was younger so I could 'police' what they were saying. I don't really have a problem with facebook itself - more the stupidity of people on it. But, I consider being a councillor a serious role and one that should not be undertaken lightly and with facebook being a rather lightweight and frivilous medium I'm not thrilled ...
