Given globalisation and the economic and political clout of vast international corporations and middle east regimes I would question the term 'independent' trading nation. 'ows yer hard Brexit food/medicine stockpile coming along?
So if the Germans are all so powerful what makes you and other like minded souls think that we will be immune to its power if we leave the EU? UK plc does not, and will not, exist in a geopolitical/economic vacuum.
I think this relates to Trump being in charge of the USA and his isolationism. Trump's attacks on the EU and on NATO must be music to Putin's ears.
Trump and Putin also can't wait for Brexit to happen.
Can you give us your source MajorP? (and that Scouser, who hates the EU so much, could always come back to the UK. Indeed if there is No Deal he may have no option but to do so).
Anyone fancy placing a bet as to whether or not all the customs officers will be trained and all the customs facilities will be in place by this time next year?

But in this country it will have done. IF , Burneside, IF. As Brexiters are so fond of saying -"this has never been done before" ergo - no-one knows what the legal status of the financial payment is. There are only opinions. BTW I have no difficulty whatsoever about getting my head around the consequences of us leaving the EU without a deal.
