As there has been talk on here about the narrowing of the A379 main road in Dawlish I thought I would start a new thread about the above. The road at Countess Weir, because it needs widening, will be reduced to single lane traffic for the next 62 weeks so that the necessary roadworks can take place. That road is always nose to tail at rush hours throughout the year and on Saturdays and bank ...

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that a significant majority of show organisers have declined to co-operate with the new guidelines. The new regulations include stricter checks on pilots, better training for organisers and a sharp increase in CAA inspection fees. In some cases they will go from £2,695 to over £20,000. One suspect was taken into custody yesterday evening, suspected of being related to burglary offences in the Dawlish region. Whilst burglaries are rare, there is often a trend in a spike of burglaries over a short period of time. The suspect was spotted by a vigilant Dawlish PCSO and swiftly raised the alarm. The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to custody. Fantastic team work and ...
It's entry by ticket only Cassandra. Which will be available to secure via on-line applications later this month. I believe that it's a total of 50,000 tickets over the two days and lots of local b&b's and campsites are already reporting mass bookings for that weekend.
Last time I went through Teignmouth I saw quite a bit of new housebuilding. Other than making a comment about planning applications neither Dawlish or Teignmouth Town Councils have any clout when it comes to what gets built or not in their respective towns. That decision making is the perogative of TDC councillors who sit on TDC's planning committee BUT BUT BUT what decisions they make are ...
More good news for the town then. Any more businesses, services, infrastructure leaving Dawlish the place is going to end up like a Calais migrant camp in a few more years. Any way will the last one out please turn off the lights, thats if we still have any of course
Thought as much.
The scoping opinion document stating no more than 180 houses at Secmaton Farm! The temporary SANGS within the consultation draft framework was for 140 houses, so where is the SANGS for the potentially 40 others coming from? http://docimages.teignbridge.gov.uk/Planning/StreamDocPage/obj.pdf?DocNo=3714679&PageNo=1&content=obj.pdf

Funny you mention that as a kid it was my job to empty the bucket loo in a trench that then would grow the spud crop they were the best potatoes you ever tasted.
Thanks Lynne, I have signed the petition and shared it on Facebook.
A bit rich coming from Mrs C!!!
Thanks all, have now looked at it
NEW PLANS for a clifftop development in Dawlish that propose a contemporary take on coastal living have been submitted to Teignbridge Council. Developer Pegasus Life bought the former family holiday complex at Shell Cove House in Old Teignmouth Road in 2014 and had initially wanted to bulldoze it and replace it with 31 apartments. Following objections from Network Rail that the scheme if ...

Many thanks for the warning. This is very worrying. Just out of interest, are your dogs a special (expensive) kind of breed? Did the police say whether or not they had heard of any other incidents of this round Dawlish area recently?

Over the years unfortunatley the Hedley way centre has been a target of vandalisim from exterior brick windows being smashed to serious damage done to the roof resulting in the roof leaking into main hall. http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/hadley-way-centre-refurbishment-project-1
Just looked on the site, they just as well forget it at present, it's 100% affordable outside cities and towns. It is like CIL £85 in Dawlish, £200 in rural Teignbridge including villages! It is just not viable!

Hope they catch the person(s) who did this. I cannot believe no one saw this happen if the time the incident occurred is correct - 12:30 - 3:00pm, middle of the day! If the car is written off you can normally buy it back off the insurance company. The damage to the car looks mainly cosmetic, a new mirror(s) and a bit of bashing on the inside of the roof and you've got a decent car for a small ...
The delay might have something to do with the Housing and Planning Bill that is presently going through Parliament. As what it contains when it becomes an Act of Parliament might well impact on Local and Neighbourhood Plans perhaps TDC is holding back from making any decisions re DA2 until they know how DA2 might be impacted by this new Housing and Planning legislation.

@FredBassett - good points, don't the local/district/county council's get some sort of allowance for the total number of miles of cycle path on their patch. i saw to often the lunacy of these developements in london, when i lived there. they would take an extremely busy road, which always had hundred's of cars parked on it and put a cycle path on it. the cyclist's could never use it because people ...
@ZIGGY - thanks for the heads up, but call 101 what a joke that service is - not fit for purposes.
