Thanks Carer We're taking delivery of the marquee and all sorts today, we just need everyone to keep their fingers crossed for good weather!
I can think of a lot better places to walk than round a car park.
@Daverc - me too, but knowing my luck the dog would most probably go for me as well.
Shame they couldn't find a British based firm to carry out the work rather than one based in the Netherlands. (before MV barks up - I am aware they have offices in the U.K.) Is the '50 year project' to just study the cliff areas between Dawlish and Teignmouth and the line between Newton Abott and Exeter? It seems a lot of time for such a project.

The cyclist art has now been vandalised again! The previous damage to his head was caught on cctv carried out by a couple of dickheads. Although the police have good descriptions I am yet to see a description of these mindless twits or even a few stills from the cctv in the local papers. It would have helped if the locals had been informed and could have kept a lookout.
If I remember correctly any council must observe the hedgerows regulation act from 1997, which means they have to leave cutting/removing of hedgerows and trees from the 1st of March until the 31st of August, this is for the protection of nesting birds and wildlife. There is i'm sure certain times when public health and saftey could over ride this but that would require a council meeting to get ...
@Calamari Thank you for this info. Just looked and still available. If I was in need of a couple (unfortunately I am not) I would have placed an offer on them.
7 agree with your trolling so far. 😭
To end the slanging matches on this thread I think it is best for me to close it. Please start a new thread if you want to get back onto the original topic.
I have just seen on BBC news that Lloyds are to close 200 branches despite a half year profit of £2.5bn. Fingers crossed that Dawlish branch is not on the list.

The man is a xenophobic homophobic bully God help us all if he gets in. His attitude to women is appaling even saying his daughter is hot. Yuk. I could say more, but Idon't want to waste my time and energy on this excuse for a man.
Do you really think Putin would think twice? We have one way to launch a nuclear attack whereas other countries have 2 or 3. He isn't scared of us.
This just in from Lady T's Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, writing exclusively (and now diplomatically) for Private Eye: There was an old fellow from Ankara Who was attacked by the army with Tankerers. They attempted a coup, ended up in the stew, Leaving the democratically elected President Erdogan back in control For which we give half-hearted thankerers. International crisis ...
Most the doctors aren't there half the time. It would be nice to see the same doctor every time you went. Instead, you get whoever is next available. You can, of course, make an appointment with a particular doctor in advance but the good ones are usually fully booked for weeks. There are two doctors I request another doctor when given an appointment with them.
Eagle has dropped out... quel suprise, who could have forseen that? lol Lets face it, we're all doooooomed if we get a PM who actually puts compassion and unity above profit and corporate tax dodging masters
Good morning all Dawlish.commers! We've been told that there is mention around town that the Red Arrows are just doing a fly-by. That's not the case, they've been booked to do their full display, starting at 7pm on Friday 19th August. After that will be the Parade to round the week off nicely. We're still looking for marshals for the Friday evening so if you feel like helping out send us a ...

It was glorious down there this morning, beautiful warm sunshine, calm sea - and good to see the black cygnets still doing well. Just as BEE9 says, makes you glad to live here.

This is really sad news. I saw this show up at the Warren car boot sale field a few years back and it was great entertainment. I guess a daredevil show brings with it a massive amount of risk, but this sounds like a dreadful tragedy and you wonder if it could have been avoided.
Thanks Lynne. Looks like I have brought sunshine for today but the weather forecast for tomorrow should be dry but cloudy. Thanks for the good wishes.
Glad that the fields at Sandy Lane were not destroyed by this short sighted parking excercise, nice to see the greed of those involved thwarted the use of it by those visiting the event. Powderham had plenty of space, it was an event at their site and they have open their fileds to parking for previous events. It seems more madness than common sense and judgement run the local councils round ...
