Quiet spaces?!! In Dawlish library? How can anyone study, work or read for pleasure when it is so bloody noisy all the time? It's more like a social venue for people with no respect for others and that includes some of the librarians. Quite spaces!!

It is Better Transport Week so Wrigley and his Lib Dem subordinates see an opportunity to get in the media. People are unlikely to vote for the Greens in great numbers in this by-election because of how Polanski is perceived and the 'looney' notion put out there by the tabloid press, etc.  Like I wrote elsewhere Dawlish has never voted Green, maybe things could change, the Town has never voted Reform either yet. Not that it is ever publicized but two Liberal Democrat Councillors on Dawlish Town Council have recently left the party to join the Green Party. Cllr Rachel Hardy (Dawlish SW) and Cllr Anthony James (Dawlish NE), the former Mayor have both switched parties recently. In addition to the Dawlish SW by-election for the Town Council, there is also a District Council by-election for the same ward.

I know some existing and prospective Councillors really do give a damn about the town. Perhaps the reason Wrigley held on to his District Councillor role was due to the 'gold-plate' changes that came into effect on 11th May; The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) now provides pension benefits for councillors and mayors (referred to as ‘elected members’) in England from 11 May 2026. ...

Since the Town Council elections in May 2023, 5 out of 16 Councillors have left their roles. No by-elections were held for the previous 4 vacancies,  most likely because the vacancies were not well publicized and the necessary 10 electors did not write to the Council to call for an election during the 14 day notice period. The same applies to the other Liberal Democrat Cllrs on the Town Council who are still/were employed at Wrigley's Constituency Office since the General Election almost two years ago.
