Have you all gone mad, youre arguing about paying extra for something which should already be covered by the council tax. Paying to park on or by a public highway is just another scam to rip off the motorist who already pays road tax. To make matters worse the councils cannot even police the scam themselves and farm this out to private companies to avoid the flack directly. The whole situation of ...

Don't know if this is of interest to anyone, found it by accident whilst looking at jobs for builders gives a pretty clear indication of what towns are up against when the supermarket giants decide to target them for a new store. I don't think anyone has a real chance of stopping their plans for eventual retail domination, so I think the outcome of the Tesco appeal is pretty much a foregone ...

Nobody seems to have complained about anything Sainsburys have done todate so why should Tescos be any different. Do the supermarkets and for that matter the majority of Dawlish actually care about the tent and caravan dwellers on Lady's Mile. After all there are other caravan parks in the area. If the Co-op have issues then just like the other businesses they will have to up their game and ...

Well done council
16 May 2011

Well said, but are you sure it was the council that moved the travalers on, they seemed to be pulling out on their own accord when I passed on Saturday night, did see the council moving the bin bags and rubbish on Sunday morning.

Appreciate this is not my argument but just out of interest @ J. Warrener how much tax payers money have Devon County Council spent on using the so called Devon camera Partnership (or should that be the private company based in Salford Greater Manchester) and the Police or NCP to enforce illegal parking restrictions, incorrect speed limits, incorrectly signed and marked roads etc. Please remember ...

First Great Western
11 May 2011

How civilized - Plymouth airport closing, Stagecoach withdrawing bus services and now First Great Western not renewing its rail franchise. So much for public transport eh ! Wont be long before the Pony Express gallops through Dawlish once more, but where will it be able to stop without getting a parking ticket from Clatworthys balliffs. Maybe it will just carry on to Teignmouth like everyone else ...

SEAGULL PROBLEMS

How true is the old story about wrapping baking powder in bread balls and feeding it to them. Apparently the effects are quite cruel but finally satisfying. Failing that how effective would an early morning cull by shotgun be on the Warren beach, I would imagine all the local pheasant shooters would oblige given permission

Nice one, I wonder who John will pass the book to to explain this little perk then, Take it this applies to all journeys and not just travel to and from work. This sort of thing should be subject to the last round of council cutbacks surely.

User4549 - Thanks for the clarification, this appears very similar to the way the Credit reference agencies work and get around the Data protection Act. I'm thinking this entire issue of protection for personal data needs bringing to the attention of Anne-Marie Morris and possibly the European court of human rights. The selling of personal data for profit has got to be illegal somehow

How will this now work in relation to the Town Clerk. Can the independant majority now replace him free of charge to the tax payer or are they going to have to fork out many thousands to pay him off. As I understand it in a redundancy issue its the job not the person that becomes redundant. Therefore can the town council manage without a town clerk
