@neilh It is interesting that the two people referring to the bible should be, in one case, "neither religious nor christian," and in the other, an atheist.

Excellent post, Webmaster. I would only add that, because this is a local forum, there is a significant chance that posters will know one another and that their choice of anonymity should be respected.

I am all in favour of local celebrations and street parties. I just feel that it is a shame that they are so often associated with events concerning the royal family.

I am content to let those who have never used a mobile phone whilst driving and never broken the speed limit cast the first stone (or first cry, "Scum.")

I think the same as I look over the Lawn and the Brook when I sit outside Bow Windows. Not many towns have somewhere so beautiful right in the middle.

I range far and near To towns that Spring leaves untouched. I miss sea mews' shrieks.

It is as ludicrous to strip him of a knighthood now as it is to give honours to press magnates, bankers and the like in the first place. You can't whinge if you tie a riband round a crocodile's neck and it still eats you.
