Nothing is decided yet. A supermarket close to town is what is needed, Thoses green pastures at Sandy Lane wouldnt be affected. Why dont Dads stand outside the Co.op with pen and paper and ask people what they want. Not a petition against maybe one for

Okay please explain. 1. Why Teignmouth is thriving 2. Why Dawlish isn't (which isn't to say that I agree with either of those statements)

I wouldn't say Teignmouth is thriving, would you? Quite down at heel in some places. It has a larger shopping area than Dawlish, but Newton A's is larger than Teignmouth's and Exeter's larger than Newton A's. Perhaps the number and variety of shops is a big attraction. In which case little Dawlish cannot possibly compete. That's why it needs to carve out a niche market.

Shutterton is not within walking distance of the Dawlish town centre and Sandy Lane is a non-starter for lots of reasons. How can a supermarket situated outside the town possibly encourage people to use the shops in Dawlish town centre?

As it happens I agree with Ziggy that one of the 'new' roads to/from the new houses will probably be Sandy Lane. Think about it....all that needs happen is that what is still a lane leading into the woods/old pig farm area becomes a fully made up road forming an extension of Sandy Lane. I wonder if those who live in Kingsdown Crescent and whose gardens back onto that lane have any idea, at the ...
