NEW Mayor of Dawlish Lin Goodman-Bradbury tried out a new form of travel as part of events to celebrate National Shopmobility Awareness. Cllr Goodman-Bradbury had the chance to take a ride on a mobility scooter, one of a fleet available from Dawlish Community Transport.
BOVEY Tracey Bowls Club enjoyed another busy week of action, starting with a ladies’ triples friendly at Abbrook Park. Bovey men fared less well in the Foxlands competition, being well beaten home and away by Marina, Dawlish.
Nearly 1,000 homes in and around Dawlish were left in the dark because of a power cut. National Grid said 838 properties were without power in the area this evening. The high voltage incident lasted until 10pm.

BARBECUES have been banned at Dawlish Warren to protect a rare plant threatened with extinction. Ecologists have been working at Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve in a bid to save the Petalwort, a minuscule plant which is only 2mm wide and looks like a tiny lettuce.

Six teenagers were rescued after getting into difficulty in the River Exe yesterday (Sunday, June 10). The teenagers had reportedly entered the river in the area of the Mamhead Slipway and attempted to swim across to Dawlish Warren.
