Judas H Priest. This is why I only look at this site sparingly. Someone asked about crabs then insullts happen. I think the crabs are used in lobster and other pots which is why they are left. The more 'stinky' the better when used as bait.

I'm with Monty on this. The problem will only get worse until the Home Choice Schemes are stopped. If you live in a big city,. on benefits, why would you not want to come to the seaside and receive the same benefits? Our biggest problem down here is not migrants from abroad; it's migrants from the UK. And please don't tell me that this town hasn't changed since Home Choice Schemes have been ...
I wonder what the cost saving would have been if they'd left them alone and open for the summer season? I don't understand why it was necessary to cut off power, water and strip out the facilities if someone is taking it over. What would the cost savings have been if it had been left to the business taking over the lease to do the work? I don't believe that TDC made any significant money on the ...
It's reasonably easy to put a care package in place. Top Tip: Write a letter to Soc Svcs stating that you believe that without one the person needing assistance will be in danger. Therefore you are making the referral to make Soc Svcs aware of the situation and understand that they have a statutory responsibility to safeguard that person. I use a proforma letter that I devised at work and it ...
@slargemail How's that 5th column looking now you naive buffoon? RIP to all those who died in Paris & my heart goes out to the families and those injured.
The Govt. want HAs to take over the responsibility for building social housing. They're not doing a bad job of it but need more public money. By definition a HA is not-for-profit so only has limited resources of its own to plough back in annually.
Based on what DJ is saying then, if your travelling towards Exeter you could use the right hand lane and go straight on? That won't work. Normally, if there are 2 lanes going into a roundabout and only one lane on each exit, there will be signage and arrows on the road to indicate the lane. There aren't any on this roundabout.
I wonder why TDC didn't keep the green bin for food waste and then only issued a new bin to anyone who wants a garden waste collection. Seems to me that they could have saved a few bob - of OUR money!
This is the current Labour Party incumbents view on things - God help us!: “It's about time we started honouring those people involved in the armed struggle. It was the bombs and bullets and sacrifice made by the likes of Bobby Sands t hat brought Britain to the negotiating table. The peace we have now is due to the action of the IRA ….........Deaths of innocent civilians in IRA attacks is a real ...
Some of the cycle path is off road/gravel, some is cycle designated pavement and the last few hundred metres is main road (but that is due to change apparently). Good train and bus services from Dawlish. Not so good from Dawlish Warren but still okay.
~Why do we repeatedly get subjected to this U.S marketing rubbish?
Dawlish.....we love to make a drama out of a crisis! lol
You may know me as the local celebrity - or not! - who was Balloon Man in the 1969ish Carnival. It's where I made my fortune of a 10 shilling note as a prize. I was then asked to enter the final parade with my bike (Balloon Man had a bike with balloons on it!). Very proud! The whole thing had been put together by me (with help from my Dad) in a day or two. Crepe paper and balloons. Isn't this the ...
Well was it? They didn't cause a problem and are used to getting through traffic like that. In law they have committed an offence but if my house/business/anyone else's property was on fire or I/my kids/family/anyones nok were drowning I'd hope they'd be forgiven. My first reaction was 'maniac' (said in a Clarksonesque voice)....but we can all be too quick to make a judgement I suppose.
Irrespective of their achievements (if any for some) whilst in office, am I right in thinking that some (if not many) 'Independents' who stood under the Voices for Dawlish flag originally in 2010 were in fact Labour supporters who knew they had not a cat in hells chance of getting in (at that time) if that was declared?
@leatash I've tried myself but people (esp. holidaymakers) don't get it because they've never seen what the sea can do. Infact a 2m x 2m x 2m wave will weigh about 8 tonnes - and no one will stay standing if hit by that!
The Luscombe Bros or Chris Pattle and his guys - both are v. good.
Have you ever: Been to a fatal traffic accident and then walked up the path to tell the next of kin that their loved one is dead? Have you been confronted by someone with a knife who wants to stab you and you have a gun but your orders prevent you from using it? Have you ever been to the scene of a murder where a machete was used to look for a murder weapon and whilst doing so have to pick up ...
@Woodcock There were no computers when I was at school. Just looking at the posts above and who has and hasn't contributed to the original thread - it's fairly obvoius who is and isn't a 'troll' on here.
@Woodcock Think it's to do with air conditioning. The entire article is an American 'thang'! lol
The obvious answer is for TDC to use their own land between Strawberry Lane and Breakneck Hill as SANGs. Great views up there - and it would protect it from future development by greedy landowners. Oh hang on....I can see the flaw there already!!!! Perhaps a FOI request for details of TDC land holdings/ownership in the Dawlish/Warren area might produce a solution for the Weeks family. What about ...
Well that sounds sensible. Good on the courts...for once!
There's no 'alleged' about it. Martin McGuinness was an IRA gunman and 2i/c of the IRAs Derry Brigade at the time of Bloody Sunday. As far as I'm concerned, the protest lost all credibility as soon as he was shoved up on stage. 1300 Security Forces died in his, and his likes, 30 year war plus around 2000 civilians (to put perspective on this 255 soldiers were killed in the Falklands, 179 in Op ...
I thought the idea was to cut benefits but also cut income tax for low earners so that those on WTC shouldn't be disadvantaged? As Cameron said, the situation as is (i.e. to take with one hand whilst giving with the other) is pretty ludicrous. I may be reading this all wrong though so put me right if I am.
The whole of Manor Close are semi-detached bungalows (22 dwellings I think). There are a few more in Church St (known locally as Newhay Bungalows - don't know if that's a proper name). All owned by Teign Housing I believe. I think there are a few more in the Avenues which I guess will be Teign Housing also.
I've got a large amount of well rotted horse manure which I usually sell - many tons. I'll swap some for mini-digging a couple of shallow, narrow trenches for digging in a couple of small polytunnels (same location) if you're up for it?

Most on the list are not 'Landlords' but 'Letting Agencies' acting for landlords. i.e. I'm sure the people that own Devon Rose don't trouser £82k themselves.
Read the posts again. Yawn.
As I understand it, a solar farm can still be 'farmed'. Apparently, sheep farming can still be undertaken as the sheep graze between and under the panels. Also, again apparently, ewes like to lamb in the shelter created beneath the panels. Seems an ideal solution for struggling hill farmers...if their fields face the right direction. I imagine that free range chicken farming would also be okay; ...
So just to summarise then: Some of us are ignorant, tribal, unfair, subservient losers who don't give a damn about others? Hmm, the art of debate is being seriously degraded on this site. You need to understand that not all posts that are posted after your post are replies TO YOUR post. Many others have important things to say and they may also be replied to. ....And I am still Proud to be ...
People say they are featureless but I love the outside 'lav' on the driveway of the one on the right - that harks back to Dawlish's historic past. Perhaps they aren't planning to keep it though . I've seen worse - like the 'Barracks' built on New Road, T'mouth!
Just checked. I'm sorry for your situation. If I was in your shoes - and I really am not preaching here - I'd stay away from debating sites for a long while. I genuinely am sorry for your situation Brenda.
I don't think I know anyone who uses this site - if I do I don't recognise them from their pen-names. I seem to remember being called 'a troll' on here sometime back. It didn't cause this much fuss - infact not a comment was made! I didn't complain to the poster or the moderator as I couldn't care less what people think of me and more importantly what I write. If I did I wouldn't put any of it in ...
I think we'd probably all vote 'Green' if they could convince that their policies are fundable.
I believe Fred Ford is commemorated on the Helles Memorial on one of the panels. This indicates he may well have 'died at sea' possibly on one of the many capital ship losses of the Royal Navy in the Dardanelles. He is in good company - each side of him are remembered, among many, 5 VC winners and 4 English and Scottish Rugby Internationals. RIP Fred. We Will Remember Them.
Mike Shelston (?) does ours. I don't have his No here but can get it. Probably best not done now until the end of August though.
You can be too close to a mast. For example there is a dead spot for mobile signals around the Ashcombe Cross mast. I can't be of anymore help I'm afraid - the whole thing of mobile comms (except radios) is beyond me!
Well, when we read stuff like this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/globalwarming/11395516/The-fiddling-with-temperature-data-is-the-biggest-science-scandal-ever.html Who are we supposed to believe?
