Found this. It shows why, @2006/2007, it was decided that the building should not be demolished. http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=13015&p=0
Perhaps TDC's Empty Homes Officer might be interested in knowing about any empty homes in Dawlish? http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=15329 On the point that Fred B makes about empty shops and scenes of Dawlish............ I was in T'mouth yesterday and noticed that the shop which used to house New Look and which is still empty is covered in scenes advertising T'mouth. ...
There was a planning application submitted I'd guess 12/18 months ago to demolish that house and build, I think it was, two others in its place. I've no idea of the outcome of the planning app.
Found this on Wikipedia about T'mouth museum's funding. "The town's newest public building is the Teignmouth and Shaldon museum completed in 2011. It comprises an architecturally iconic extension of the existing 18th century museum building, with new roof terrace looking over the town, glass tower and community facility. Some of the exhibits include a restored bathing machine; artefacts from ...
Just some observations. Before I lived here but came here on holiday I had no idea that the museum existed. I've lived here very nearly 7 years now and still haven't visited it. Now, given that museums are places that I would be likely to visit as a holiday maker on a rainy day I've asked myself why I've never gone to the one in Dawlish. Some thoughts: It's not in the town ...
As we've been having lots of chat one way or the other about transport and traffic it seems an opportune time to let you all know about a Sustainable Transport Users' Group that Dawlish Transition are keen to set up. To get the ball rolling for the Transition group I offered to start this thread so that if anyone has any comments they like to make/would like to be involved with the group you ...

Yesterday, at the entrance to the bootfair, the organisers were showing a list of what they charge sellers. Believe the cheapest is £7.00 per car if selling second hand stuff. Charges increase if selling ...

Cuts to Welfare Benefits may be politically expedient (ie popular with the electorate) but in actual fact may not be that economically cost effective (as has been pointed out on other threads on this website). http://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/23031
Yes I agree that the explorer ticket is good value for money but only if you want to go a long way/get on and off. (Pretty certain though that there is a rail ticket that allows for on/off travel - think it's called a Day Rover) And I accept that buses go to destinations that the train does not. However, short distance prices for bus travel are, imho, extortionate.
