And as I have said previously perhaps signs need to be put up where the railings end saying "Do Not Cross Here - Danger!" telling people to use the crossing. Better still, the railings should be extended further down towards the crossing.

From today's Dawlish Gazette: " Police urge more care after girl, 9, hurt in collision with car Wednesday, 10 July 2013 by Ellen Grindley A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl was injured in a collision with a car in the centre of Dawlish. @Carer There is no need to shout. Whatever the reason(s), people are crossing that road in a dangerous manner. Given that they are doing so, it seems to me that precautions need to be taken to reduce the likelihood of their continuing to do so. If we have road markings and signs for drivers indicating danger I don't see why we shouldn't have similar for pedestrians. And I have seen ...

Perhaps the fencing (sorry don't know proper name for it) along the pavement could be extended further down towards Harrison's? I don't drive very often but when I do it is usually to the station and back and I cannot tell you the number of times I have come across people crossing the main road between where the fencing stops near Emerald Deco and the road crossing just a bit further down. Now, that is not to say that I don't think members of both the Lords and the Commons shouldn't be properly remunerated. Of course they should. In fact, going against the grain I think that our MPs are underpaid for the work and the hours that they do (I await howls of protest about ...

There was an interesting letter about housing need and housing development in the Dawlish Gazette a few weeks back. In case you missed it, here it is. "State funding not forthcoming for affordable housing Wednesday, 19 June 2013 Stephen Jope, of Elm Grove Road, Dawlish, writes: The key to providing adequate quantities of social housing is to provide adequate state funding ...

There is an article on page 2 in this week's Dawlish Gazette about this. The article says that since January of this year the CAB (Citizen Advice Bureau) workers have been inundated with enquiries at the weekly sessions held at the Manor House. The paper reports that "rising debt is considered to be a major problem in Dawlish" and that "Debt inquiries have continued to rise accounting for ...
