An investigation is under way into how a key council meeting was halted after a four-letter outburst from a councillor. Three members of the public asked about the way sports centres treated trans people, and council chair Cllr Rosie Dawson (Lib Dem, Dawlish NE) stepped in to stop the speakers from making statements in addition to their questions.

Devon-based Taylor Wimpey staff joined thousands of others across the region as they took to their bikes on Cycle to Work Day this month. Whilst some participating cyclists are based not too far from their workplace, others came from further afield - with one making the 13-mile trek along the scenic River Exe National Cycle Route from Dawlish .

The report has been on the lunchtime bulletin.  They are definitely not going to dredge the brook, but look at ways the appearance can be improved, so just a cosmetic job.  The councillors are all guilty of neglect, if they had done their job properly over the last 10 years then the brook wouldn't be in the dreadful state we see today.

A NEW temporary banking hub could be open in Dawlish in the next few weeks, the Gazette has learned. A suitable location has finally been found in the town, within The Strand Centre, for a temporary hub which could be up and running by the end of the month.

MANAGERS at a Dawlish pub have apologised for the behaviour of a team, claiming to be from the pub, which took part in the iconic carnival Pram Race. A statement from the Lansdowne in Park Road said the pram race team members had been ‘abusive and disrespectful’ to members of the carnival committee but also the police.

I have today heard that the feature about the Brook will be shown on Spotlight this Thursday with any luck. Please tune in and let your friends know. There is huge support for our campaign to dredge the Brook and tidy up the area!

ONE of Dawlish’s most famous Black Swans has been nicknamed Bert The Bully due to his dominant behaviour. But the town’s waterfowl wardens say they are keeping a close eye on him as the next clutch of eggs have been laid near the Brook.
