Viaduct, you are absolutely wrong re immigrants causing the lack of housing and pushing up housing costs. It is down solely to the greed of vendors, 'buy-to-let investors', property developers and landowners. The root cause is personal greed and that alone.

You appear jealous of these kids. Why do you assume that a skate park will attract hoards of drunken teenagers to the area? What experience do you base this on? Typical NIMBY paranoia I think.

Good. They seem like a nice bunch. Isn't it a shame how some Dawlish traders behave when they are confronted with a little competition. They should raise their game. what happened to the Farmer's market?

It's not immigration that has fuelled the buy to let boom, so much as developers and estate agents over selling the demand for rented property in some areas and private investors seeking an easy buck. There will undoubtedly be some closures of Estate Agencies if the economy continues to decline. They have enjoyed 10 years of artificailly high house prices and subsequent fees. The root cause of these ridiculously high property prices is the greed of individual vendors and so called 'buy to let landlords' seeking to cash in on the housing shortage, forcing the next generation into lifetime debt ...

I hear that all the posters advertising the Dawlish Continental Market that had been put up around the town were taken down this morning on the instrcutions of Dawlish Town Council, under presssure from local traders. Does anyone else have information on this?
