Well now, if a 'British' characteristic is to take so many immigrants without hostility as you claim, why are you being implicitly hostile towards immigrants with your final remark about visiting London? And if you lived in London for so long and now you live here does that not make you an internal immigrant?

And I think those last two postings just go to show that 'Immigrants' are as different as we are. You just cannot make sweeping generalisations (well..okay...some can and do). On the subject of British traditions. As has been pointed out, we have much to be ashamed of!

and....the tabloid newspapers especially The Mail and The Express

"All I'm saying is that we need to protect our identity". Now .....that opens up a whole can of worms. Define what is our British identity.

I think you'll find that the Xmas lights and 'Winterfest' nonsense was exactly that. I agree that if you move to another country you should abide by the rules that are there, but that said you might still want to change them. If you don't like this country move to.......Argentina perhaps?
