Why are you assuming that people who work have 'spare' money? Mine is a working household. We don't have any 'spare' income. And guess what? I suspect we are not the only ones. I have no idea whether or not what you say about tourists buying before they get here is true or not. On what evidence do you base your remarks? Even if they do only buy milk and bread once here (which I doubt) if they ...
This is from today's Herald Express New owners at soft play centre A PURPOSE-built soft play centre with a 40-seat café in Dawlish has been sold for £59,950 to new owners Jonathan and Kathy Baldwin from Enfield in Middlesex. The Monkey House is an 'interesting' business in the heart of the town next to The Lawn park and stream which cascades through Dawlish over a series of waterfalls before ...
Perhaps it's me missing something again but when you say " 2 of them are already guaranteed seats" what do you mean exactly? For the elections to Teignbridge District Council, in Dawlish North East Ward there are 8 candidates standing for election to 3 vacancies and in Dawlish South East ward there are 6 candidates standing for election to 2 vacancies.
Not sure how there will be more money locally? Sure, people who presently travel to Exeter or NA to do their once weekly supermarket shop will more than likely switch to using the new Sainsbury's at Shutterton Bridge but all that will mean is that instead of the money being spent in Tesco or Asda in NA or Exeter it will now be spent in Sainsbury's at Dawlish. Yes, of course, Sainsbury's here will ...
The Councillor concerned is not a member of TDC Development Control Committee hence he didn't vote on the matter. Incidentally, although Councillors, even if they are not members of the Dev.Control Committee, can speak on planning matters (but can't vote on them), this particular Councillor couldn't even do that because of his having an interest in the matter via One Stop renting his premises.
and there was I thinking that the reason Tesco's are Appealing against TDC is because they haven't got planning permission to build! If that claim were to be true I'm sure the Planning Inspectorate would be very interested to know about it.
and three of those Voices for Dawlish candidates are also standing as Independent candidates for election to Teignbridge District Council! Tee hee. Oh! this could be such fun! (Wonder if Fronteraman is standing? Fronteraman?)
"People in Dawlish will be able to choose which developments should be given automatic planning permission and can have their say on things like the location of shops and offices or the standards of design for new housing." That'll be no problem then. Just like the pedestrianisation of The Strand issue. :-)
Yes,I believe One Stop is owned owned by Tesco but the premises they use in Dawlish I further believe to be rented from that prominent Dawlish councillor referred to by Vanguard (see second posting above)
@flo As I'm not sure which bit of the article you think implies that the travel is free I can't really address your comment but hope the following clarifies. As I understand the situation (and I only know what I know from the newspaper article that started off this thread), Devon County Council have no obligation to help out with educations travel costs for post 16 year olds. However, that ...
