General Discussion

@J.Warrener I agree about persons living within the ward, but the VfD candidate, Howard ALMOND, lives just across the Exeter Road and is probably within 100 metres of the boundary of the Central Ward, so perhaps make an exception this time? Bob

Short answer is no. Proximity will do. Bob

@goldenlad & karateka Now that I am a Town Councillor I'm a bit more careful of what I say in public in case it gets me in trouble, but I hope I can give you some news to cheer you after your increasingly unhappy comment. Meetings held with Network Rail have programmed the replacement of the station footbridge ( a lift off and replace job) next Spring, after the winter gales, and it's possible ...

The next Town COuncil meeting is on Wednesday evening 13th July starting at 7pm. You are welcome to attend and make your own judgement about the capabilities of the present Council. It's better done ther than from the comfort of the fireside.

@Lynne Yes, John Petherick was elected as an Independent for one of the District Council seats to represent Dawlish Central & North East. For the Town Council all ten Independent Voices for Dawlish (IVFD) candidates were elected (100% result) and the Town Council will now be made up of IVFD 10 seats, Conservatives 6 seats. No Lib Dems or Green Party candidates were successful. Details of ...

Av or not to AV

That is the question. But. Can anyone explain to me why the Conservatives elect their leader using AV and yet are so furiously canvassing for people to reject it? If they didn't use AV David Cameron wouldn't be their leader. Perplexed

Hello Hells Bells Just taking a quick snack between canvassing and I think you were pointing a finger at me when saying 'at least one of them is a member here'. So, perhaps I should admit that my pseudonym refers to my days of scrubbing the quarterdeck of Britain's last battleship, while doing national service. Perhaps that's what drew me to Dawlish and the sea. I certianly didn't bargain for a ...

@boot strap bill Dawlish Community Trust was asked to press for improvements to Dawlish Station by the Town Council, and we have established that: Network Rail is planning to replace the footbridge over the track towards the end of this new financial year. For some time Teignbridge planners were being demanding over the Listed status of the station building until Network Rail pointed out that ...

I called in for a cup of tea and piece of cake and sat among a busload of pensioners who were really enjoying the shelter from the breeze, but able to sit out and watch all that was passing trade. I wish that Richard Bland would spend time with you doing that and talking about how that terrace could look if each proprietor took as much trouble to keep their frontage neat and attractive. I'm not ...

@Andy Mac I'd rather not reveal my identity in case you catch me out on some past posting where I've upset you on another subject. I'm also hoping that you will find in each of us something admirable and worth supporting. We have a really great team and the everyone is on very good terms. We have had a couple of meetings in central Dawlish and one at Cockwood and the next is at Dawlish Warren on ...
