Good to see them back again. Perhaps we will now get some summer!

Certainly the Smugglers gets booked up very early for Sundays; but then it's not in the town so maybe it wouldn't suit you best anyway. I'd agree with S's suggestion of the Marine.
Frustration is mounting about the lack of Government support for Devon and Cornwall rail improvements, as ministers pledge billions of pounds for schemes in London. Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw said it was becoming "crystal clear" that the Government has "absolutely no intention of keeping its promises on rail investment in the South West". Responding to the concerns, rail minister Claire Perry ...
It would seem that nobody's perfect, Purrrrrfect. I refer to S's thread of the 18th May at 11:58 above: 'What are those sheds/dumping ground? Does it look like that now?'
On the compulsory purchase bit of this bill: The government is going to reform the CPO process so that landowners receive today's market value of property, rather than its future value. Which would mean that landowners, farmers, and individual property owners could see their compensation fall significantly under the new compulsory purchase orders. So.....no point in buying farms and ...
DAWLISH Warren beach has been awarded Blue Flag status for the 18th year running. Alongside Dawlish Warren's achievement, Keep Britain Tidy's high-profile Seaside Awards have also been awarded to Teignmouth Town Beach, Coryton Cove at Dawlish and Ness Cove, Shaldon. Read more... ...

Really looking forward to seeing them.
great photographs, @BEE9 . the cygnets have grown big quickly.
What is the actual problem with housing availability in the country for those who earn a low wage! They do not earn enough to have a large enough deposit for a mortgage and/or pay for the mortgage and house prices continue to increase. The governments idea is to have large companies build expansive estates of houses with housing association properties built within the developments for those on ...
In the top 10 for £24k seems a little underwhelming. I wouldn't be surpised if he's still claiming from Spain!
@ZIGGY - i would assume from the evidence that it was the council, or should i say the cheapest sub contractor they employed through the bid system for contracts. Does the council (which ever one it is) ever check the poor quality of work done by some of these contractors. A case in point is Badlake hill. A couple of years ago it was resurfaced over a period of a few weeks. All the contractors ...
This Appeal was on the Agenda at last week's Dawlish Town Council planning committee meeting where it was Resolved that: "Secmaton Lane must not be used for any construction traffic or any access to new houses".
@Taverner . I think you are referring to the Voices for Dawlish councillors who were in office 2011 -2015. I seem to remember a letter in the Dawlish Gazette shortly after they were elected from an ex Lib Dem councillor having a pop at them (or some of them) claiming that they were really Labour people. I have no idea if that is or was true. But I do know that I wrote a letter in response ...
So, making a broad assumption that the number of new affordable homes built in the Coalition years between 2010 and 2015 were delivered nationally at a ratio of 25% (the same figure as set for Dawlish) then the total number of homes built in that period would equate to 868,000 (217,000 / 25%). That would be an average of 173,600 total new builds a year, which I don't think is a mile away from the ...
A SPECIAL service will mark the centenary of the deaths of six Dawlish men in the Battle of Jutland. The service, along with a special exhibition about the Battle of Jutland, has been organised by the Dawlish World War One Project. Good evening! I was waiting for a ride when I saw an ad on a news site. I had been losing money for a while on other platforms and was getting frustrated with the lack of wins. Luckily, I chose spinmama and things turned around immediately. I won a significant amount on the slots that paid for all my previous failures. The poker section is handled professionally and I really enjoy the interface. ...
All the best Graham in your new post.
Thank you for the clarification, Morty. BTW, WRT the sort of pollution that Margaret refers to above, I met up with a chap this morning who does the rounds for TDC in Dawlish sweeping up, er, left behind waste. It would seem there are a number of serial offenders out there - and their cards are being marked. His advice? Mind your step...

MAJOR expansion plans for a 'healthcare hub' for Dawlish and Teignmouth have been given the green light. Barton Surgery in Dawlish has been given permission to expand its site in Barton Terrace by Teignbridge Council planners. The plans for the four-storey surgery extension will provide more rooms, as well as training and meeting areas for staff. Read the full story .

THE STREETS of Dawlish will be 'filled with carnival' this summer as the carnival has officially been saved. The carnival was under threat after the Dawlish Carnival Committee had announced they were unable to run the event in 2016, but after discussions, the carnival will be officially be happening this summer. A Community Right of Appeal that would allow an infrastructure decision to be contested if 'the local authority gets something wrong' could of course not only be used for matters such as drainage, but also for roads. The link road between Sainsbury's and Gatehouse is a prime example. Whether our MP had in mind the proposals by Teignbridge District Council (aided and abetted by Devon County ...
The Peninsula Rail Task Force has launched the consultation on its 20-year plan for the South West rail network. A new draft report on the way forward shows that the cost to the local economy when storms breached the line at Dawlish cutting of large parts of Devon was £1.2billion. Read more... ...
I guess single track lanes is a reference to Secmaton Lane Ken's favourite subject, since if he can allude to it he always does, ever since the original post on 9th September 2015. As for the traffic on Secmaton Lane, it appears that since the kind residents in the lower lane have chained their drives, those in the upper part are using Little Week Lane so I was told. I also found out that ...
Wonder if any of our district councillors know what is going on?
My brother is travelling to New York today and he just read this on the way to the airport. His wife has an old passport so fingers crossed they let her in :-)
The council house scheme which started around the 1920's had the right focus on producing quality homes for those in need, but the high values of the day were eroded into non existence as the decades went buy. I agree with Lynne that the government is purely focused on private home ownership. They want the revenue, but not any associated costs/responsibilities that they have to cover. As long ...
It's nice to see the flag pole opposite the TIC back in use. Shame they couldn't have given it a coat of paint first.
'Distributed to charity' It's a shame that cleaning the streets of Dawlish and maintaining essential services does not come under this banner, or does it now!
Yes, seems a lot of resources on this that could have been directed somewhere more worthwhile
Is this used for anything anymore or is it just standing empty?
Nice walk to the Warren this morning but no Red Rock or viaduct cafe open and it's a bank holiday! We're local so don't need to be buying a coffee in the town but sometimes it's nice to when you're out and we like to support local businesses. You would have thought this year especially with no air show that traders would be trying to get as much business as possible, there were several people ...
As I said in another post. I have waited up to half an hour or more trying to get through to 101 to advise police of certain situations. I think many that have given the police info in the past are sick and tired of paying to call 101 and rarely getting through.
Did the person who called the police about this call 101 and if so how long did they have to wait for it to be answered!

One of the many joys of living in the South West is undoubtedly the coastline. There are lots of beaches to visit and enjoy whatever the weather. Exmouth offers wide swathes of soft sand to enjoy or you can go for a walk along the cliffs and enjoy the scenery. Budleigh Salterton offers a pebbly beach and safe waters, or enjoy a stroll along the estuary as it’s a breeding site for migratory birds ...
