A POPULAR disco for the over 60s in Dawlish continues to help local charities and good causes. The monthly knees-up aims to give the older members of the community a chance to strut their stuff.

YOUNGSTERS at a Dawlish school have been learning about policing and art. The varied experiences were enjoyed by children from Orchard Manor School, a special school which provides education for children with communication and interaction needs, autism and learning needs.

Deaf students from Exmouth excel at Dawlish Gardens Trust, earning AQA certificates. A GARDEN charity in Dawlish welcomed deaf and disabled students for work experience. A group of deaf students with additional needs from Exmouth made great strides in their vocational training when they spent time at Dawlish Gardens Trust.

A Dawlish carpenter has been recognised for his ‘remarkable dedication to swifts’ and ‘wide reaching work’ after winning the Individual Inspiration Wild About Devon Award. Jerry Horn, who set up the Devon Swift Project, said he was ‘surprised’ by the award but was pleased that the project and the swifts had received acknowledgement.
