Yes Wondering, we'll be much safer with 60 year old firemen coming to rescue you ...
Bump.
Just because you're claiming some income related benefits doesn't mean you're not working or haven't worked. Whether they're an elderly person on a reduced income or a care worker not earning a great deal. Not everyone is a benefits scrounger but hey let's all jump on the bandwagon and vilify people not earning enough to keep themselves warm. */Waits for abuse/*
Teignbridge District Council and CosyDevon have linked up to offer homeowners or private tenants the opportunity to get a replacement boiler. As the nights draw in and the evenings get colder all of us will be looking to turn on our heating - if we haven't already. Those of us with ageing boilers dread the day when it eventually breaks down, leaving us with thousands of pounds to find in order ...
The main railway line at Dawlish is still vulnerable to storms, in spite of £35 million of repairs, the Western Morning News has learned. A Cross Country train was halted on Monday after it was hit by a wave at Dawlish, bringing delays of more than 35 minutes to morning commuters. And Network Rail admits that it cannot do anything to prevent similar incidents. A four-mile stretch of track at ...

agree @Kaz . anyone know what happened to the original plan re the housing opposite gatehouse school, wasn't there originally a doctors on there? I'm not sure why Red Rock is so underused. It lends itself to great community use, see Dawlish Cookery School - fantastic idea! @michaelclayson - would love to volunteer but already do a lot of youth volunteering and have no extra time. i ...
I see a new Town Manager has been appointed (glad I finally have my copy of Dawlish Gazette!). Tracy Scranage has lived in Teignmouth for 29 years and is former secretary of the Teignmouth Traders Association as well as recently working at SureStart in Heathfield. Good luck to Tracy, hopefully she has some great ideas. Hopefully people will get behind her and give her the support she will need.
Thanks both, I hadn't logged into the Gazette yet for this week's issue. I find it hard to understand how DCC could completely walk away from this building. What a waste. Good on the Town Council for the £10k grant but it would seem this won't be enough to keep it going after 12 months if the staffing costs are £29k not including building maintenance. What a travesty for our young people.
I see from the DCC Youth Services site that - Red Rock in Dawlish is held by Devon County Council on a long lease. The proposal is to withdraw services from the building. The lease may be open to adoption by third parties subject to discussions with the landlord. Does this mean the centre is now or will soon be closed? https://new.devon.gov.uk/youthreview/locations/red-rock-dawlish/
