I may be misreading the intention of your post which appeared to express sympathy to the man's wife but not for the distress of the man himself. According to the article, he was not a councillor. He was an employee of the council who found himself unable to reconcile his personal ethical standards with the Counci's expenditure.

A very good question overlooked in the foregoing posts. Further to Joey's reply, there are also two duplicate bridge clubs in Teignmouth and one in Shaldon. Teignmouth Bridge Club meet on Friday afternoons 2pm at the Alice Cross centre. They provide a host, which means that you can go along without a partner. The second Teignmouth club meets at Richard Newton Hall at 6.45pm on Mondays. Shaldon also meet at 6.45 on Mondays and meet at the hall next ...
