When I first came on this forum there were many more posters than now, ot so it seemed.
Have people lost interest? or is it that they have to sign in, or that there were but a few posters using different aliases

I think you will find Ann, that those that were trying to defend the indefensible, lost their arguments. They have nothing more to say, so they stay away.
There is so much corruption going on in and around Dawlish (Dawlish is not unique by the way)that some of them were trying to defend a situation without throwing up the facts.
If we sow a seed of doubt, we do not expect them to come back with hollow excuses, but they tried, Bless them!

Good point Viaduct. You only have to look at our mayor protheroe. When it comes to money collecting or posing for supercilious photographs, you can't keep him out of the local rag. But when it comes to serious debate on serious subjects that involve Dawlish, where is his input in the local media?

Have you noticed how he never get's involved publicly at any length, about the town and the residents he represents. Instead, he keeps public involvement and discussion to a bare minimum, therefore keeping his nose clean in order to preserve his office and maintain his empire building.

I think most people like myself who used to post a fair bit got fed up with the moaning and sniping of a select few.

Postings were getting taken over by these people and it always just ended up in a slanging match.

Alot have lost interest because of it!!!!!

What did you write about Runella? Coranation Street, Deal or no Deal, Eastenders, Songs of Praise.

Or was it something a bit more juicier than that?

I agree, this forum just seems to be here for a certain few people to vent all their grieviences, no matter what the topic, they always seem to find somebody to slag off. Of course, these certain few are only on here to wind everybody else up! Its a shame really as most of us really are concerned about the issues brought up on here and its great that issues are raised and brought to light, but its the malicious way that a certain few go about it that is the real problem!!! and you all know who they are! and its sad to think that they are spoiling this forum for many others.

Today on the telly, I saw an article where they were highlighting the scammers, (those that rip other people off)
They could not believe how many people are sucked into the work from home scam, how many people will pay in advance for something to a total stranger only to find out later that the stranger has got what he wanted and doesn't return.
I warn people all of the time of such happenings and I will slag off those that try and defend those that set up scams or those that purport to be doing a good job for others, when in reality they are doing the opposite.

You see Viaduct you just cannot help yourself can you. You feel the need to belittle and jibe at people the whole time. I watch very little television as it happens as I have 2 jobs and do not have much time for such things. I have joined in many postings in the last few years but like yourself haven't always posted under the same name.

As always though you have made derogatory comments about someone you know nothing about and assumptions that are unfounded!!!

I do think the petty sparring on the forum is one of the reasons why others are reluctant to post,as well as almost every topic being used to criticise the council. Also when someone posts their opinion they often get snide replies when not falling into line with certain posters views.
When every subjet gets turned around to involve the castigation of the Council it gets boring.
I can see this forum being used by an elite few who will continue their infighting, and when they get bored with this it will die a natural death.

Perhaps they have gone bust Ann. You never know where the tentacles of the world econmic crisis will grab next.

Maybe they have run out of steam, after all, there was no logic to most of their side of the arguments.

Some promised to come back with an answer, but never did, so does that mean they had no answer?

I see some of the do gooders have had their comeupance today, The vandles arrived at the skateboard park and covered a large section with blue graffitti.

Maybe it would have been better to just put up a plain brick wall - would have been cheaper.

Guess you all missed me. Sorry, been working too hard to make regular contributions like I used to. I actually haven't felt the need as as soon as I see the words 'Council' or 'Viaduct' I tend not to read the entire thread. The Webmaster has thoughtfully provided a place for comments on the town council. However I noticed that as of this moment there are only 16 threads on it. Why?

Hi Frannie! welcome back.
You obviously think that anything to do with council is obnoxious to you, and that is why you cannot be bothered to read the full articles.

Sorry Viaduct, but my main point is that there is a separate place for comments on the council. I don't mind the odd comment or information on the council, but the continuous diatribe is soul destroying and ruining the forum.

But thanks for the welcome back!

What would you like the forum to be about-Football, Icecream Parlours, Donkey rides on the lawn that were stopped, Red Arrows, Ice Hockey, Coranation Street, Eastenders, or something that only you fancy?
You obviously do not like education, as that is all some of us try to do, EDUCATE!
Life is not a bed of roses, and if I can inform others of pitfalls that I know about, then I will.
Like you say, the forum was split up for different topics, but you would not read anything about your corrupt council that we have discovered if it was in there , would you?
Your life must be ok, and you don't care a sh1t about anyone else.
As long as it is your way, you are happy, but take your rattle away, and you kick up Holy Pope.

Missing the point, again. There is a place for Council remarks and if I wish to educate myself on corruption, councils and conspiracies, I shall go there. This is the Backyard forum. Backyard conjures up the image of neighbourly gossip, not rantings.

I have nothing against you and your opinions, but don't you have an opinion on something that isn't council related, and isn't negative? May I ask how old you are Viaduct? I would guess early retirement age and a reluctant retirement at that.

Looks like Deacon has renamed himself Roy.

A lot of recent posters appear to misunderstand the purpose of forums. If it's airbrushed twee reporting/pr you require then I suggest you stick to Westcountry/Spotlight News.

These same posters seem keen to avoid/stop Council debate, which is puzzling, as Council business impinges on every aspect of our town. I can only assume they do this out of ignorance or to defend Council 'friends', regardless of their malfeasance.

People with principles, like Viaduct, are worth a multitude of Councillors who are willing to sell their principles to the highest bidder.

I have just heard that there is another wibble center expanding in Dawlish.
Bethany nursing home that was, is now a college for retarded youth. The owner has also bought the first block of flats on the left as you turn into the bottom end of Oakpark Villas. It is also being filled with the wibbles of wibbleton.
We will not be able to tell a wibble from a wobble soon.

When every thread becomes a rant to castigate the council, the concerns of the poster 're the council' become not only diluted but boring.
Having one thread about the councils ills is all that is needed, then those who share the same concerns know where to go.
Some of us do not appreciate all this 'mud slinging' and it is not what we come on here for.
Perhaps there should be an insulting each other thread, where someone can be as obnoxious as they want to be without fear of offending others.
The reason there is not so many posters is because like me others know their threads will be hijacked.
Don and I have been friends for years.
