Hoorah for some good news ....... Brunel was right, and with the reversal of the compromise forced on him by Mr Powell all those years ago we will have a much stronger protection for the line. I suspect the initial work may appear unsightly, but Network Rail will no doubt apply solutions to this to make it more in keeping with the general appearance.
I agree that the Bank is not under any duty to consult the local Town Council. I'm just old fashioned enough to think that if you are going to deliver a body blow to a small town's economy, you should have the courtesy to make this known. I'm sure that all of my colleagues on the town council share my disappointment. The Chamber of Trade leaders have made it clear that they see this as ...
The bank is closing the branch in September. The Town Council wasn't consulted about this. We weren't even aware as the news leaked before Natwest could begin officially communicating their decision. I'm sure we will be protesting against the closure. I gather the justification is the national move towards online banking and a local reduction in footfall at the branch. It's ...
Teignbridge has issued the following public notice: Dawlish Town Council has paid for a Rural Skip Service to take place at Sandy Lane Car Park on Saturday 21st June, from 10am to 4pm This service is for bulky household waste only Please do not deposit any waste at the site before the skip has arrived For more information please contact your parish council or call the Recycling ...
@ZIGGY Totally get where you're coming from. The problem we have is that the Fund being applied to wouldn't consider giving money for this as a project because it is not linked to improving the economic future of the town. I will pass the suggestion on though, in case a different funding scheme might be approached to help improve facilities at Sandy Lane.
@roberta If it helps, my memory is that the request for echelon parking was dismissed by DCC and Teignbridge soon after I became a Councillor. The reason being that most of the trees on that side of the Lawn would have been fatally damaged by the work that would be required. Since then, my Mother has become disabled. I've been on a massive learning curve about how difficult it is ...

The town council agreed that proposals be brought to their meeting on June 4th outlining how the public consultation can be organised, and a paper is being prepared. There is a strong appetite amongst the councillors to reach as many disparate communities within Dawlish as possible, which is in line with earlier comments on this site about the importance of engaging everyone. I'm sure that ...
Just to bump this up the tree, and remind people who might like to come along
Hi Andy I remember that you have only recently moved to Dawlish, so it's understandable that you haven't heard of Caz. Do go into the shop and meet her, she is a wonderful woman who has over the years helped so many people both practically and emotionally. Charity shops don't get free rent - landlords naturally expect their buildings to return the investment ( Unless they are super ...
