Thursday was chosen as carnival day when the local shops had half-day closing and people would spend the afternoon putting their floats together.(many a year ago). The carnival has become so large and popular over the years and having both the air display and the carnival on the same day must be one big headache for the organisers. It's a good idea to separate the two events.
Whats wrong with people today? A scattering of snow and panic sets in. One school closed and another not sure which caused confusion. No post. We had a lot worse than this about 18-20 years ago. The milkman delivered to our door and the postmen were given special rubber and chain fitments to attach to their shoes and delivered as normal. I have just taken my dog for a walk and the strong smell of smoke led me to Weech Road. I was saddened to see Stonelands House well ablaze. When speaking to one of the fireman he told me there were 12 Fire Engines and 2 Hydraulics in attendance.
An interesting letter in tonight's Express & Echo, a sighting of several bright orange lights moving slowly over Exeter on Christmas night at around 6pm.
You may pay more for your chicken if it's had a so called happy life with the freedom to roam around outside, but at the end of it's life it will still be hung up by it's legs, hit over the head and then have it's throat cut!!!!
