Lidl and Aldi have the same produce as Tesco etc. Odd you have only seen them in poor areas there is one in Exeter with Tesco as a neighbour. If they are put in poor places its because those people are not worried about how the food is displayed only want value for money also isnt dawlish a "poor" place

that shows inverted snobery and ignorance Lidl is one of the biggest chains in the Netherlands and Germany the difference between Lidl and Aldi is they are low key the food is the same

Unless you go shoping with your eyes closed the items on the shelves are self explanatory even downtown Lidil has better selection and local grown fruit and veg

Dawlish needs a supermarket unless you want to carry on paying co op prices I go to Asda every fortnight have tried to buy the same things locally they havent got the variety and what they have got is much more expensive. what a lot of time an energy spent on the issue of a supermarket Of course we need a decent supermarket. Wonder if another Estate Agents or bookies were to open would it be met with the same furore. Roll on the Barton Bros opening another buisiness then at least the supermarket issue wouldnt still be taking over this forum as it is now. Its not as though its a matter of life or death

Anon okay spelling wrong on a lot of the food we buy the packaging is in more than one language go to Holland or Germany there are plenty of "English" goods in the shops they seem to manage are you sure you dont suffer from inverted snobbery

If we are to have a supermarket in the area does it have to be Tesco or Sainsburys why not a Liddels they are a no frills shop offering the same quality at a much lower price. Once the debate is settled about where the supermarket will be built lets then decided who we want, its our town it shouldnt be left up to a bunch of councillors who only have self interest
