NEWTON Abbot Batmen returned to action in the SD&T Table Tennis League first division with an 8-2 win at Halwell A, Rory Harries with a maximum for the Batmen. In the second division, a Mark Sharratt maximum for Dawlish Aces helped them to a 6-4 victory over NA Falcons.

BEACHES in Teignbridge were among the several hit by sewage alerts after yesterday’s heavy rain. Dawlish Town, Shaldon and Teignmouth Holcombe were among the more than 30 beaches identified by marine conservation charity, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), as areas where sewage has been discharged into the sea.
